I love the recruiting JC & staff have been doing with wings and bigs, but I'm really concerned about the guard position.  After next season, there is no one on the roster that can play the PG position, and there aren't many guys at the 2.  I'm sure they'll find someone, but there is certainly going to be pressure to get some guys that can step in right away.

JC brought in a transfer that would have held down the 2 spot for 3 years, but the guy couldn't stay out of trouble long enough to get to the beginning of the school year.  I have confidence that JC will fill those sports with quality talent

After I got really excited about Tariq, I was starting to get impatient waiting for more commits... 2 more, I think we are ahead of where we would have been back in the O'Shea years with recruiting, right? I seem to remember checking this site on dialup back in the mid-2000's in the spring/summer waiting for new commits.
We definitely need a PG for this class, and I really hope it is a good one. That is crucial. I have faith JC will bring in a high level guy. His recruiting has been very strong so far. I am crawling through twitter trying to find hints at PG's visiting here.. I guess the longer we wait, the more time I get to waste dreaming!?

If not a PG in this class, then a Juco or 4-year transfer better come early in the next class.  I would prefer both a PG in this class and then get a four year transfer after this season.

Some recruiting services have Crute listed as a Point Guard

Late to respond on this....but I like the addition of Crute.  I'm hoping still to see a true PG.  I'm not one who cares one way or another about JUCO or not.  With what I perceive to be the in flow of talent everywhere else, a Mike Allen type of PG would be a good JUCO get to keep the Bobcat train rolling.  I just hope we get him.

I do not want three JUCOs in this class.

Not sure a JUCO PG would want to come here and sit behind two seniors in year one and then only have one to play.  A transfer who sits next year + a freshman in the next class might be the way to go.

I agree 9704. I think a PG coming in would likely be a freshman. Makes more sense for both parties.

2 JUCOs and 2 freshman currently. A 3rd freshman, ideally a PG would be perfect.

With our current JR class, I like 2 JUCOs... We have the talent to win next year if we bring in some talent.

This has me a little concerned too.  Basically Stevie and Nick were the only players keeping Ohio in the game against OSU in the 1st half of the game.  After those two, Ohio's backcourt is rather thin.

I was thinking the same thing. The new rules are going to make PG play that much more important.

I am actually feeling higher on this class than at any point before.

Firstly, while we graduate Nick, we have Stevie for another year. With the way he has grown as a player, this should excite anyone. Also, while Bean hasn't lit the world on fire i think he has played pretty well. I see some real potential there. While it would be a really small lineup, i think next year we will see them on the court together a decent amount.

As for this class.. I think there is a decent chance Crute is our point guard. A couple different sites/videos have him listed as a point and I think he plays it now. While we became accustomed to a smaller breed of PG's lately, i kinda like bigger points... Anyone remember a guy named Fears?

Also, Wigginton is absolutely dominating the JUCO ranks right now. He is listed as a wing, but i could see him playing shooting guard. He envisions himself as a guard and if his current production is any indication he could be am impact scorer for us next year.

Next years squad is shaping up to potentially be scary good.

Hopefully we get some LOI's this week to gain some more clarity.

I think we will sign a PG type player, but I see Coach transitioning to more zone and playing with a giant type lineup.  Coach Christian has recruited a lot of players that were guards but have grown into wings or forwards.

At this point in the recruiting and just looking at the roster, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Wingfield stepped into that role. I remember him bringing the ball up the floor a few times during the state tournament last year, and he wasn't bad. His size would make it scary for smaller opposition, especially on the defensive end.

I would be even less surprised since he is most likely redshirting this year. Take the year, learn the role, work on ball-handling and seeing the floor, then be ready to go when Stevie graduates.

Did Tariq sign or not sign?
