According to Kurt J. Stubbs, he picked up an offer today.

Here's his ESPN Profile and a recent article about his team's success and the role he plays.

Looks like he is an AAU teammate of Stevie Taylor's (All Ohio Red).

Must be the nephew of the late Gary Bradds who played at OSU. If that is the case sign him up. Gary was a legend in my neck of the woods.

ESPN Recruiting Notes:

Strengths:
He always gives a great effort on the floor, often out hustling his opponents to loose balls and rebounds. Offensively Evan has solid skills. He is a solid shooter with range to 17 feet. When guarded by perimeter players he can be effective posting up down low or at the mid post. Evan is a good rebounder. He does a solid job of boxing out and then retrieving the ball.

Weaknesses:
He can put the ball on the floor a little to create, depending on who he is matched up against. He is much more successful moving off the dribble versus post players. He is a decent defender where he shows nice effort, he just struggles at times in space versus superior quickness.

Bottom Line:
Evan is a skilled combo forward right now. He definitely projects as a small forward down the road. Overall a solid prospect.

Thanks for the update, Ted!  I hope that all works out well for Evan at Ohio University.

He had some other solid programs offering him and he has two years of HS left.  Reggie Rankins thinks he's beginning to blow up, so he could be regarded even higher by the time he graduates.

of course, the commitment is not binding.  If he sticks with it, though, a very nice get!

Off just that one vid clip and the above description, I like this young man!   If memory serves, the above description reminds me of the features that we thought we were getting (from articles, his parental side's description) of a fellow from Indiana who recently completed four years with us.  That didn't work out too badly.

I'm no recruiting guru but isn't it extremely rare to verbal this soon?  It just seems like he would want to see how things play out for at least another year before committing.  I love that he chose OU this early, but I won't get my hopes up too high yet.

That helps when you land an early commit to a class as he could perhaps make us attractive to others.

I can't remember EVER having a recruit verbal this early.....OSU gets em all the time (well at least BT....before Tressel).......especially one of this pedigree......his grandpa was one of the best b-ballers I ever watched......a 6'8" skinny guy who was a poor man's Larry bird.

This guy has 2 full years of high school left and will never play with DJ & Ivo and be a freshman when Nick is a Senior.  That is hard to wrap my mind around!  Looks like he would be a great player to have.

I have had the opportunity to watch this young man since he was in the 7th grade. Ohio should feel very fortunate to have a recruit if this caliber commit this early in the game. There is a great upside to this young man. He has a high basketball IQ. He is an extremely hard worker and is unselfish as a teamate. This young man plays for our rival school so I am not "homering" this young man. You all are getting a class young man.

Although I don't know positively what Bradds looks like in person, I think it was him on campus and at the football game yesterday hanging with the hoops team.

Heck of a good first game to see if it was him.
