Arguably the nation's #1 JUCO guru, Tony Jimenez of Basketball Times, lists Rodell among the nations top 50 JUCO sophomores. They are listed alphabetically rather than as rankings.

You have to be good to get on this list. Maurice was on the list last year.

Rodell's college, College of Central Florida, is loaded with good Div. I talent.

Another player on the list, 6-5 Gary Akbar of San Jacinto, TX, is going to Kent State. No other MAC schools have players coming from the top 50.

Nice. With as good as the College of Central Florida has been on the JUCO level, I have to think the JUCO recruiting gurus have gotten a pretty good look at Rodell.

Really excited to see him in the green and white.

Rodell and his team in the JUCO Florida State tourney.  If you dont watch it live, it should be archived.  They play a very good Chipola team.

Chipola wins 82-73.

Overall, very high level of talent. From what the announcers said, these two teams could have met much later in the playoffs but the brackets set up for this early matchup. A lot of D-1 players on the floor for both squads.

I thought Rodell looked impressive. Central Florida did not seem to play that well overall, but Chipola is a very good squad. They have Sam Cassell Jr... He is heading to UConn next year. He played very well.
Rodell will fit in nicely next year. His strength is beating guys off the dribble and finishing around the rim. He should be able to draw his fair share of fouls next year. If Crute and Morrillo are more of the mid-long range shooters Rodell is definitely the slasher of the group.

If Crute is a slasher who can create his own shot off the dribble and take it to the rack, then he will be a much needed  dimension I think we've been missing for awhile.   I like hearing this scouting report.

Probably not a good thing.....Wigginton removed OHIO UNIVERSITY COMMIT from his Twitter profile at some point in the last day or two.

That doesn't sound right to me....I feel like contact during non contact periods(at least phone contact)is allowed if the player is signed to your school. I may be way off, somebody please correct me if I am.

That is correct. Dead period=no personal visits but calls are ok.
Im sure coach intends and I think he said he planned to see each recruit in person ASAP

I was looking at the recruiting calendar today and our recruits twitter accounts at lunch today and it said Ohio commit.
So that change happened today......dissapointing for sure

I don't know the exact situation with JUCO's and commits.

I am not sure if the Dead period applies to them or not. Perhaps our person who identified themselves as having worked in Compliance can shed some light on the subject.

EDIT...if one of the mods can right size this I would appreciate it...

Forgive me for being lazy as I'm sure it's on here many times, but cutting to the chase...

when do recruits/schools have to commit?  When is it final and a done deal where they're going?  What's the drop-dead line for Crute, Owens, etc... to either be confirmed to Ohio-- sign & sealed?

----------

Think I found it--May 21st is the drop-dead deadline when all the answers will be finalized.

I'm not sure there is a drop dead line... This year we had that situation where Anrio Adams was off the team and we literally called up Khari Harley the first week of classes and BOOM he was here.

That was obviously an extreme case, but with that said do NLI's even matter beyond them preventing you from going elsewhere? Seems to me as log as you get to class in the fall as long as you didnt sign an NLI elsewhere, you could still show up?

I'm more confused now. Sorry I couldnt answer your question CG.

You can sign binding LOIs until May 21. After that, it's non-binding letters. Kids can enroll up until the institution's deadline.

For those interested in overanalyzing, it was his birthday yesterday. Tony tweeted him congrats and I also saw Fuss retweet something.

That really gives no indication on his plans with OHIO but I know you are all itching for news like me...

Arkley's Messenger article quotes Coach Phillips as saying Rodell is "leaning" in the direction of attending Ohio, so hopefully, all will work out and he will attend Ohio.

Very exciting to hear that report from Arkley. Wigginton is a big-time player. He can make an impact next year for us.

I don't follow you at all, 9704.  This is Div. I basketball.  This is what happens.

I suppose you were saying "Thanks John Groce" when we lost a couple of his recruits.

Completely disagree with your mindset.
