How have we offered to like 11 guys in the 2014 class already? We must have gotten some hard no's already or something.

Or maybe we are elevating the profile of the kid's we are recruiting and as a result hearing about them more.  Would imgaine the number of offers we are making hasn't increased that much.

Kamau plays point for the AAU squad BMore's Finest which is the same club Tariq was with.

Watched some older highlight tapes of him. He is pretty athletic for 5'11" as he had some pretty nice dunks. I liked his game. He seemed to be a scoring point but he also had some very nice passes.

Ton of offers including our own already. Would be a good fit for this class since we definitely need a point guard with Bean and Stevie both graduating after next season.

Absolutely critical. JC must get a point guard for next year, either a frosh,  juco transfer,  or wait til the season ends, see what becomes available in transfer possibilities, then get a player who will sit next year, learn the system, then take over for 2-3 years.

I agree....who knows about Bean next year. Freshman PG is going to see minutes next year.

We need a point guard that can come in and compete right away for playing time. We need someone that could potentially start. Neither pg that we have has a lock on that position.

That is a solid grab for Toledo. Based on the number of HS PG's we have been scouting lately, I got the sense we were not expecting this kid to come here.

Really looking forward to Ohio signing a good PG. Sounds like Stokes has potential to be a good one for Toledo...but when we do get one, it would be great to beat out some high major programs like we did for DJ.

My guess is, he verbaled to Toledo due to the exciting, fast paced brand of ball they play... There are others however, that see winning against good competition as the ultimate goal regardless of the style of play.

According to verbalcommits.com, Toledo has 11 returning scholarship players with 3 commits coming in. How is that going to work?  Are they only going to offer scholarships to 2 of the incoming freshmen then use the third as a walk-on?

The speculation on the Toledo board is that someone currently on the Toledo roster won't be back.

With Toledo graduating so little, not a lot of minutes to go around next year.. Not hard to believe someone there doesn't see much of a future for himself.

Makes you wonder what all factors into a recruit's decision to come into such a situation. Unless he/coaches feel he can compete for a starting job immediately.  Kinda seeing a similar thing at Western Michigan as well.

Edit:  Though if they have that many people returning, he wouldn't necessarily have to compete right away and may be able to redshirt.

For the guard position, recruits should look at us.  We could use help in the shooting, size, defense, ballhandling areas at guard ("the guard position").  An opp to get some reasonable amount of minutes right away with an otherwise veteran team. Then, a prime role the following season.   A very good opportunity, indeed.
