Houston PG Jaaron Simmons has been granted his release from Houston. He has 3 years of eligibility remaining. He's from Dayton.

If Aaron Fuss is indeed still on board it looks like there is at least some interest there.

He was a 3 star recruit out of high school offered by Houston, CMU, Dayton, Kent, Ohio, WMU, Wichita State, and some others.

Would be really good to have a guy in college a couple years as an option at point guard after this coming season.

so the back up PG requests a release to transfer BEFORE the new coach is hired and his request is granted immediately but the top two scorers on the team, a junior and a senior, request releases a week AFTER the new coach has been hired and they've met with him several times and their requests are denied.

now that is a reason to have a legitimate beef with a denial of release.

Definitely an issue with consistency there.  Makes me wonder why there isn't a consistent approach to handling these releases.  I feel like any new coaching staff should get a couple weeks at least to meet with the team and the incoming recruits to be able to talk with them and get a feel for each other.  It should be standard procedure in some fashion.

Simmons would be a nice addition for OUr program!

A source told me that Simmons was on campus Thursday and will likely transfer to Ohio.

From watching the tape, the kid looks to make a lot of smart decisions and handles and passes the ball well. I can see him being a very great player about two-three years down the road.

As a Chaminade grad, Alter usually develops very smart players.  Valuing possessions should be ingrained in Mr. Simmons.

Bringing in a transfer PG is pretty ideal with Stevie and Bean coming back as Senior PG's, IMO.

I was thinking the same thing.  He sits out a year to learn the system and gets acclimated down here while Bean and Stevie finish out their senior years.  There's no added pressure for them to perform, aside from who gets the starting spots between them.  Then this kid comes in the next year and takes over already knowing the system and we continue to roll with minimal rust.

Any kid who played for coach Petrocelli will be a great addition. They don't come any better. Sure hope he comes here.

Ditto!  Huge pick up at a huge need.  Looks like a home run here.

You have to like the fact that he had arguably his best game against National Champ UConn.

The get is huge for an Ohio team with questions at the position after next season (Javarez Willis & Stevie Taylor are seniors)
