It looks like Ohio is showing interest in Columbus Northland 2012 power foward prospect. The 6-8, 210-pounder recently decommitted from UC.

From his Twitter:

Yes, please. This would be a huge get for us.

This would be a HUGE mistake in my opinion.

He left a tremendously negative impression on me this past season culminating with an incredibly flagrant cheap shot in last year's state championship game.  I can't recall if he was ejected or simply removed by his coach (well deserved if so)

The kid showed he couldn't handle not having things his way and when faced with the realization he showed his immaturity that had plagued him all year long.  You'd think that being around Jared Sullinger would have been a positive experience but you'd be very wrong.  He didn't even show remorse on the bench after he came out unless it was just a case of being frustrated at his actions which to be fair and honest it may have been.

Be that as it may, I don't see him thriving in any college program without bringing a negative light to the school he signs with.

Again just my opinion.

Do you have anything else other than an isolated incident? You don't think he has the potential to grow up?

You didn't see my phrase " .....this past season culminating......" ?

Wouldn't that suggest that it was an entire season's worth of immaturity with the last incident transpiring in the state championship game?

I'm not sure if you're aware of the Northland basketball team but they were led by the eventual Mr. Basketball try Burke so they by and large followed his lead which was a very positive one.

They only lost one game leading into that last game but had several and I mean several games where they played down to obviously lesser opponents even though Scott was one of two starting post players who were 6'8 (give or take an inch) so obviously or at least apparently there were some issues going on there.

Since there was no real adversity to reveal the character of the team until the last game it's unlikely to have a frontrunner's behavior become obvious to all who are paying attention.

Again, however this is my opinion.   time will reveal if my words hold any truth to them.

Calm down, dude. Yes, there is a suggestion, but you didn't specify. And I don't follow high school basketball at all, so I have no idea. But you didn't answer the other question: You don't think the kid has room to grow? He was, what, 16? 17?

Lol I love how you say calm down as if you know my excitement level when responding to your erroneous post.

Nice little trick there.

If you happen to live in an area that gets the Sports Time Ohio network I'll try to let you know the next time they air the Division One championship as they do hold the rights -- once you see him in that terrible moment hopefully you'll have a better appreciation for my statement as to my opinion of him.

I don't watch every single state championship but I have seen 2 previous examples of character flaws on that stage in person.  Both players went on to have a college career where it could be argued that it followed a path other than what they may have wanted....one was Seth Martin who I believe signed with Ohio U. Initially.  I apologize if my memory fails.

How can my post be erroneous when I didn't make a declarative statement?

I don't have TV.

Actually you did make a declarative statement  -- you just disguised it in a interrogative -- we can play this cat and mouse game for who knows how long but you're not stupid and I'm not stupid so if you need the last word to feel better about things then by all means take it.

As I have stated time will reveal if my words hold any truth and I'm sure you'll be around in case my words do prove true to minimize any any credit I try to give myself lol

Oh by the way --- apparently this thread provides a link to devon's twitter page  -- I clicked on it to read a few excerpts a couple of days ago as he stated his desire to punch an authority figure (assuming he doesn't refer to fellow students by the term "Mr.")

........but hey  that doesn't mean the next 12 months doesn't contain significant growth and maturity so why let one twitter post be a sign of anything?

I'm sure several top level basketball players in this state and across the country have a desire to physically strike members of the faculty and the lack of awareness to keep such desires of the internet.  That sheds no light whatsoever on his decision making ability as a senior and team leader.

Saw this in the Dayton Daily News...

[quote=DDN]

Scott has been targeted by several high-major schools since de-committing from Cincinnati earlier this month. He said Alabama, Tennessee and Clemson are among the programs recruiting him. Ohio University made a home visit Monday night, Nebraska was scheduled to meet him at school today and UNC-Greensboro planned to show up Thursday.

He’ll get a home visit from Flyers coach Archie Miller next week and then make an official visit to UD after that.[/OUTER_QUOTE]

When Stevie Taylor signed with Ohio I was hoping that would lead to big men who are familiar with him to decide to join him Athens.  Now, Scott mentions playing with Stevie as a possible factor in his college choice. Hopefully he won't be the last.

Some bad news from the Dayton Daily News:  http://www.daytondailynews.com/dayton-sports/university-of-dayton-flyers/ud-basketball-holds-off-findlay-in-exhibition-game-1280328.html

Excerpt:

“I feel like Dayton has moved to the top of my list,” he said before the game. “There’s been a lot going on in the last few weeks, a lot of discussion with my dad and a few of my coaches about where I should go. ... I feel like there’s a lot going on down here that I’d love to be part of.”

UD has already gotten commitments in the 2012 class from Scott’s teammate at Northland, forward Jalen Robinson, and New York City point guard Jevon Thomas.

“I feel like this could be the best basketball decision for me,” Scott said. “Also, I’d be playing with my teammate, Jalen Robinson. And J.T. coming from New York is a big deal. I’ve seen him play throughout the summer, and I feel like our class could be a huge class for the University of Dayton.”

I don't know. I feel like if he wanted to go to Dayton he would have given them a verbal during his visit this weekend. But he didn't so there's still a chance.

On his twitter he mentioned he's down to us, Dayton, and Alabama.

Maybe your thoughts weren't that off-base. Devon Scott and Jalen Robinson were dismissed from Dayton today.
