Youtube this kid from Zanesville High School. I work in the New Philadelphia/Dover area and have seen this kid in person on a few occasions. I cannot for the life of me understand why he's not highly-recruited by at least mid-majors. I watch guys come in and out of our program all the time and wonder how they got in. With this kid he's a proven winner, he is physically strong and has ups. He handles the ball well and played very well against Dartis and Newark this year. We should be giving him a look at least.

Interesting. Not a real good look but he has some hops. No left hand and very little desire to develope the off hand. Will need to look at this game tape for an idea why guys are passing on him for now. Looks to be 6 footish. Stocky for sure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PjN1jcXaYk

He is all of 6 foot 3 to 6 foot 5. He is not stocky by any means. And if you watch the video below you will see left hand.

Let me start this by saying that I have been told that Malik is a wonderful kid with a great heart. However, he is no where near 6-5 nor is he a guard. He is a 6-2 inside player with a really nice mid-range game. He does have some great hops. Also, notice that on the beginning of the package it says he will play this year at Harvest Prep. Well, evidently that did not work out too well because he is at ZHS again. Also, as a junior he was the fourth and sometimes fifth option to four really good seniors. All of which I believe are playing DII football now.

OK. looked at the video. Can't tell but after watching a few thousand HS games and maybe a few more thousand AAU games he looks about comparable to 6'2 ish guys around him. 50 possessions on offense he went right all but 3. In tthose 3 he took a couple of dribbles left and came back right. One shot was made with the left hand. May just be bad camera work, bad sample size or something similar. On the defensive side he made one block with the left hand. All others were with the dominant hand.

Looking at him compared to laster or taylor or similar HS kids I think he is thick/strong especially in the lower body with Gluts and hams. Stronger than most at his age. If a coach asked me I would say he is stocky and strong. Just my adjectives when comparing to the norm for kids that age especially in the lower body. Got to think he is slowing down his growth . He has a good frame to pack some strength on. Got some hops and a nose for the ball. Playing inside and mixtapes show no ballhandling under pressure

Not doubting anything you say but putting up there some first impressions and what I would tell a coach who asked if I had a take on him. You lamented that you could not understand why he is flying under the radar and I put up some ideas and some positive attributes as well

He'd make a good strong guard if he improved his handles. It's hard to tell how good he is because almost every guy guarding him in the video is either same size or smaller and less skilled. He's strong and has a nice clean stroke from mid range, but half of the video is him just cleaning up people's misses. That's more about getting position and having the strength to grab boards and put it back in. That doesn't make you a D1 college basketball player.

We had a guy on my high school team who was 6'6" 230 and we used to call him the Garbage Man because all you had to do was throw it up at the rim and he would clean it up. He got recruited by small NAIA and D3 schools, but that's about it.
