Yes, school has become a basketball powerhouse. Jae'Shan Tate (OSU) and Caris Lavert, who would have come to Ohio had Groce not left, are graduates.

Former head coach, Jerry Francis, had a very strong connection to AAU programs. Not just here, but everywhere.

Plus, as BobcatSquared and BruceCuth will attest, the Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division has very good programs and talent. For the most part, these are larger enrollment schools in central Ohio.

With this connection and players moving in (and out - Izzo recruit Javon Bess played for Pick Central's state title team as a soph then for Gahanna his last two years) comes headaches for the coaches - possibly explaining Francis' health issues last year that sidelined him. I would include Gahanna as another OCC Ohio school that draws a lot of AAU players from outside of Gahanna to their program. Newark, meanwhile, competes with these teams (and wins division titles and co-titles) without such a pipeline. And coach Quackenbush has told me that he wouldn't have it any other way. Not worth the headaches.

Culver, now at a prep school in FL, continues to receive interest from Ohio, according to prephoopsohio.com. Has several low & mid D1 offers.
