I saw him play in last year's state tournament.  Good prospect.

He's originally from North Carolina, so this may be to get back closer to home.

Virginia Tech fired their coach today. Hudson could be back on the market.

Well, not quite yet.  NCAA rules are clear:  When you sign a letter of intent, you are bound to the institution, not the coach.  In most instances, but not all, a new coaching staff will honor requests for release.

However, the coach change has resulted in an interesting transfer.  6'11" Trevor Thompson, who averaged 5 pts/5 rebs as a freshman, will leave VA Tech.  His dad says he wants to be closer to home, which is Indianapolis.

And didn't I read somewhere that Butler has a few open scholarships?

Now I read that OSU and numerous other majors are interested in Thompson.

And the Butler mention brings this to mind...if we really are interested in signing another point guard, we could do worse than at least looking at Danny Hummer, the PG on  D-1 state championship runner up Upper Arlington.  At this point he's looking at walking on at Butler, but is interested in other options.

Hummer is a smart, tough kid.  Had major hip surgery before the 13-14 season and really did not get up to full speed until late in the year.  He was instrumental in the Bears' run to the championship game.

He's transferring out of Va Tech. We originally offered him under JC.
