No. I'm confident Bobcat Nation will be happy with the two players (or more) who eventually commit. And as of now, not many of the players we're supposed to be involved with have committed.

With some of them, I think that part of the issue is the guys we're really pushing for are starting to get late offers from major conferences (Haliburton, Hayes, to a lesser extent McConnell). If I were to guess, I'd say those guys are holding out a little longer to see what shakes out. Getting 2 of those 3 would be a home run to me in terms of recruiting.

Time will tell. From what I've seen, there aren't many verbals to other MAC schools to this point either.

Yeah some of the guys we've been recruiting for this class have been getting more offers because they had good summers. I'm not worried, but I am eager to see which domino is the first to fall.

Very good point, OU Country. To use a common sports occurrence, how many times have one of our favorite professional sports teams made a blockbuster trade that the media covering the team and sports talk radio had nary a clue about? Where nothing leaked? I'm confident we're involved with several players we'd also be excited about who haven't hit the message board.

I'm anxious and interested as well. Just leafing through, I noted that WVU has a VC from another PG, so McConnell to WVU is less likely. Wichita St has offers out to 6 or 7 three and four star guys, so maybe he's their last resort? Same for Rhode Island. That realistically leaves UB, Ohio, Toledo and Wright State.

I think we can apply similar logic to UC, ISU, and Nebraska for Haliburton, though there are obviously many more offers out there for him.

Jaxson Hayes is potentially the least likely with Clemson and 3-4 B1G offers.

I still think getting 2 of these 3 would be a home run in recruiting. Can't say this year anyway, that they aren't aiming really high on recruits. I also still think holding one scholarship until the spring for a potential transfer is the way to go moving forward.

With Haliburton announcing his four campus visits and Ohio not among them I think that we can put him in the not-likely category.

Has Haliburton already been to Athens?

Relative to this thread's initial question - the MAC as a whole only has three verbals listed right now. Miami, Kent and Central have one VC each at the moment according to VerbalCommits.com.

Not sure how that compares to past years.

Absolutely, I understand. But we must be patient. And the fact that there aren't any commitments on the table doesn't mean that there aren't kids who are willing to commit. This goes two ways; there may be some back burner guys on hold. Also, remember, just because we're not listed in the top three with certain guys today does not mean that will be the reality tomorrow. Recruiting is fluid. A guy who may have us down the list could move us up to the very top if the schools at the top of his list get commitments from other players. Conversely, how many times have we seen a guy we thought would commit get ushered away by a power conference school's late arrival? This is just something everyone has to wait out--the players, the coaches, the students.

So true. We're probably only anxious because we've had 1-2 verbals by August in recent years. My hope is, that means we're targeting guys who are in higher demand and thus trending towards getting the talent level even highter.

I think you're right for some we are recruiting. We've had pleas on here by Chicken and others to "swing for the fences" in recruiting and I think the staff has done that. Others we are recruiting are mid major guys, which isn't swinging for the fences--but in the current recruiting environment, we have to do that. I'd say over 90% of guys who get high major offers are going high major.

Supposedly Ben Roderick from Olentangy Liberty will be in town (info from his thread). We have not offered but have expressed great interest in this 6'5" wing...

I don't have any inside info on this, it's just a hunch, but I think at least one player will commit before leaving Athens this weekend.

Well you nailed that one Gary (thank you, Mason McMurray). Now can you please tell me what the stock market will do this week?
