per the player's twitter. Saw him vs. Akron St. V at the state tourney and was impressed. This is a big fella! Still needs work, but lots of potential. We join numerous MAC schools, Cleve St, Air Force and others in offering.

A little slow in the feet, saw him on the tourney trail up this way. 8 miles from my hometown. Kid can play I think at next level but footwork is going to need to grow.

The good news is he wasn't the emphasis of offense this year due to how heavy they were on the perimeter. He should get more reps this season in Wauseon's sets.

I saw him play on TV in state tournament. Looked like a Div I prospect. More than held his own vs Akron SVSM.

I see a good low-post presence here. I'm most impressed with what he does without the ball, as he get's great position and seals off his man, sometimes ending in a drop step and dunk.

Ya had seen a fewer smaller schools from the Southeast up our way on the tourney trail including Elon and Furman. Fwiw, Furman has come up our way to find kids and has one from my hometown there now so no surprise they're coming up this way to find kids.

Like his size and ability to finish with contact. Looks a little slow and needs some better footwork. Would like to see more from him in game action on D too.

Dambrot has somehow convinced two Ohio bigs that Duquesne is a worthy basketball program.

A10 vs MAC

Perfect example of what our recruiting disadvantage is.

A10 a powerhouse? Answer is clearly No (couple premier teams - balance crap).

MAC - is what? Maybe Jeremy Guy, or Schaus (or any AD in the MAC ) has an answer?

He's accumulated quite the collection of young bigs. Now, I wonder about guards and wings. I'd expect them to be in the top half of the A10 in 2018-19 after the transfers become eligible.

Spot on, RSB and OUC. A-10 sent 3 teams to the NCAA tourney. When's the last time the MAC sent more than one?

People will disagree and I respect that, but in basketball, there are no mid majors. Only "majors", defined as multiple bid leagues, and "minors" who only get an automatic qualifier. The MAC is a minor league.

I hate to totally hijack a recruiting thread, but....

In a way, don't you think it's that way kind of by design? As in the design of those who select the teams, broadcast the games, etc?

Think about the last time a smaller conference magically got an at-large besides the WCC, who has seen the rise of Gonzaga, and St. Marys together, but otherwise isn't incredibly strong. The last small conference I can think of that got the second bid is the CAA in the form of George Mason. Sure, we can talk til we're blue in the face about how to schedule to get an at-large out of the MAC, but the facts are, the system is set up to exclude conferences like the MAC from getting an at-large.

And while your point is factually accurate in the number of bids - the A10 is massively different than the MAC. That helps them in budget, scheduling and recruiting. The majority of the A10 doesn't have big dollar football, so hoops is their primary focus. They also have TV deals that help their funding that's solely for basketball. And lastly, the majority of the A10 are in major metro areas some of which are college hoops hot beds during the winter.

Really couldn't have said it better, OUC. Cause and effect. Same is true for most 1 bid leagues, I suspect. The only outlier is the Mountain West, which will be back to multiple bids before too long...

Good call on the MWC. I totally left them out, and I'd expect them to be a 2-3 bid league most years. Too many really solid programs out there.
