saw him play twice last year as sophomore..  he will be among the top guards in the state by the time he graduates. even as a sophomore, appeared smart and polished.  Would not be surprised to see him receive offers from mid and lower echelon power conference schools.  Triple-Double lists him as the #2 shooting guard prospect in the class of '15 in OH...would be a great get for the bobcats.

Jordie went for 33 pts. Friday night and is averaging around 16/game and about 3-4 assists per. Has led a less-talented Newark team to a season split with Gahanna and will try for season sweep against Pick Central Tuesday night. Dartis scored 31, I believe, in an earlier Newark win v. Central. While Ohio has offered and Dartis has some interest, I have a feeling he is waiting for offers from bigger schools, which he'll probably get.

Gahanna, led by 6-6 senior Javon Bess, already signed to play for Izzo, has a pair of 6-7 sophomores whom I hope Ohio is taking a long look at. Maybe Stevie Taylor can put in a good word.

Impressive numbers for Jordan Dartis when you consider that he is the primary threat for his team, and, Pickerington Central and Gahanna have more athletes to run at him defensively. Even the middle of the pack OCC Ohio teams are decent -- Reynoldsburg, Grove City and Groveport -- although the Central District is down overall.

One of those sophs, Matt Moyer, already has an offer from Wisconsin.  If he continues to progress, he'll land at a program above MAC level.

Jordie just finished helping Newark come back from at least 11 down v. Pickerington Central, #10 in the state, to win in OT. Scored 33 again, hitting threes, driving and scoring highly contested layins and pull-up jumpers and hitting key free throws. Played the entire game, something he's been doing since the first game freshman year.

Unfortunately, Central played without osu recruit Tate, but still outplayed Newark for most of the game with Tate's younger brother and D-I signee Conner Kern.

Go to www.newarkadvocate.com - scroll the video presentations for two different looks at last night's game, both featuring Dartis. Kern is Central's lefty who misses a 3-pointer from top of key at end of the game. Signed with Arkansas St.

Just found this video company's highlights of several Newark games. Dartis is #35.

http://storiedrivals.com/sports/mbkb/newark/2013-14/videos/newark_pickcentral_mbkb_feb4_2014

FYI: #1 for Gahanna is Javon Bess, signed w/ Michigan St.
#1 for Pickerington Central is J. Tate, signed with o$u. Tate played in the first Newark-P. Central game, but not the second game earlier this week. Shoulder injury could possibly keep him out the rest of the season, according to this morning's Dispatch.

Wisconsin was at the Ohio State Fairgounds this past weekend watching Dartis play in the district final vs. Dublin Coffman.  Would be a nice get for us.

I've joked with his coach, Jeff Quackenbush, that he should shut Jordan down for the spring/summer AAU circuit and his high school senior season. I'm afraid that he's going to blow up over the next few months and start getting big10 offers. Otherwise, I think Ohio has a good shot at landing him.

Talked to a guidance counselor at Newark High earlier this week and asked what the latest is in Dartis' recruiting. Said West Virginia and a couple of big 10 schools are showing interest w/o any offers yet. I've heard from others that he's waiting on a Michigan offer. Of the schools that have offered, I'm still hearing that Ohio is the leader, but this was before the coaching change.

Better check first with the Ohio athletic dept regarding rules and regulations on recruiting. You may not be allowed to "recruit."

Excellent news on several fronts:  First, he's a good player and from what I've heard, a good kid.  He reminds me just a bit of Kellog (of course, if he's even a bit like Nick, on and off court, that's pretty darn good).  Second, good job by Saul and staff getting a commitment from someone sought by a number of schools, including Minnesota.  Third, he's an OH kid who certainly knows others in the very strong '15 and '16 classes, and can maybe help bring them along too...

Awesome!! From how people on this board have described Dartis, he sounds like exactly the kind of player Saul said he felt confident he could recruit to OHIO.

When Arkley tweeted that Dartis was visiting this weekend, he mentioned he was in town with Noah Bramladge, who is a 15' SF. I believe they are AAU teammates. Not sure how close they are, but certainly a name to watch.

Very happy to hear this.

One question for Ted, however. Why is Dartis listed as a combo guard? He's started as a point guard for Newark varsity since his first game as a freshman and from everything I've heard, he was recruited as a point guard.

I'm seeing a lot of analysts list him as a SG.

Interesting. I'll probably see his coach tonight at daughter's soccer game (he's also Newark's AD). Maybe I can get his take on Jordy's best position at the next level.
