To the surprise of absolutely no one, Ibi is transferring. Was overmatched at the top level of college basketball.

Saul says he'll probably sign a guard. Watson must sit out a year, will have two to play...

As I recall, played a year or two at Athens before transferring to Pick Central...

If Saul knows he is on his last year, is he going to use a scholarship on a guy that has to sit out the year? My guess is no.

We've got two scholarships open. Could get one to play now and one for next year. Then again, I think a lot of this is predicated on Jordan Dartis' status. If he can't go next year, we'll definitely need two who can play right now.

Have you heard somewhere that Dartis won't be able to go? I had not heard that. I also believe we need two players who can play right now. No more of this "waiting around." We have waited around during the Phillips tenure. I am ready to win now. I want Cowart from the JUCO ranks and a late blooming frosh who can play or a grad transfer. Plain and simple. To sit on Ibi Watson, who may not even be able to excel at OU, is not great.

There is an unconfirmed rumor in one other thread that Jordy's hips may not be well enough to play on next year, or possibly the rest of his career. Message board rumor, so don't call it a 100% lock, but concerning nonetheless.

But FWIW, Saul mentioned in the Cleveland Caravan that all of the offseason surgeries that players have had have gone well.

So who knows...

Did anyone question Saul if he expects all those that have had surgeries will be recovered enough to be able to play next year?

There was not a follow up in the video.

He did mention that AJ Gareri got popped in those nose during offseason practice by a Doug Taylor elbow and broke it.

Not surprised by this one to be honest. I thought he was more of an A-10 caliber player at most. How he blew up into a Michigan kid idk other than the fact that Pick Central has become Ann Arbor South for Michigan to walk into and get kids out of.

Ibi was a highly recruited kid by the time he was a junior AAU baller. He ran into a buzz saw when Michigan landed a number of players in following recruiting classes. Timing can be everything!

Also posted in the basketball forum. Watson was on UD's campus yesterday for an unofficial visit. Looks like it's between Ohio, Dayton and Duquesne.

Something that occurred to me: If Ibi is considering Ohio, I'd say its more likely than not (60/40 maybe) that an extension of some sort of this coaching staff is done, or in the works. Otherwise, why would Watson consider OU with a sit out year on the way? I know it's "home" to a degree, which is worth consideration, but Dayton and Duquesne are also pretty close to home from Pickerington/Athens.

Does Ibi still have family in Athens? A factor to consider.

I would have no problem with using the other scholarship on a kid with 2 years left to play, especially with us getting Cowart who I think is going to be an impact player. Our lineup will be filled anyways next year. Watson would easily jump in and replace Jordy and make a nice teammate with Kirk for two years.

Everyone does. The school president hired his son's firm to develop it. When it first came out, the left tail on the D was in blue and it looked remarkably like VD.

No disagreement from me. I wasn't a fan of it at the time, and still like the prior version better.
