Good find Bruce. From reading Zach's tweets about last night's game he took over for Eastmoor when they were down big.

Fleer ranks him as the #2 wing in the Columbus area for 2018.

Player of the Year and I can't find a damn thing on him in regards to recruiting other than what Zach Fleer tweets out or puts on his website. I read something one day that he wrote saying something to the tune of "any player in central Ohio, clock winding down, I want Kinsey with the ball in his hands."

Long and thin with pretty good handle ability to go with good court sense. Had a gravity defying dunk off a lob where his shoulders were level with or above the rim, so he has more hops than a craft IPA.
Wright State had a rep looking at him.

Tommy called and said he really was impressed. Wright did have guys in the gym. Said the kid has unreal hops "gets up and gets up quick" is the report. Reallllly skinny though 6 4ish and 150 or less. Good frame to hang some meat on sounds like

Kid is legit DI talent in many ways, spindly and athletic, jumps very well with good handles. Will be a dogfight in the mid majors for his services IMO

I do like our chances here and hope we can continue our pipeline in Columbus. I know we're trying to establish one with Dunbar over in Dayton, but continuing solid relationships with Columbus Public will continue to pay dividends.

Nothing but congrats to Taevion for making first team all-state.

However, and I could have posted this in any of a number of threads in the basketball recruiting forum, wouldn't it carry more weight if the first team is actually made up of 5 players instead of 10? Now I'm left to wonder if a player is actually a first-teamer (top 5) or a second-teamer (6th through 10th best player). What's the purpose of having 10 members on the all-state first team in each division (boys and girls) in Ohio? Just an extension of "everyone gets a trophy" thinking?

Yep, between First, Second and Third Team, Honorable Mention and Special Mention, everybody gets a trophy. The AP just started doing this I believe. Says something that Taevion is one of only two juniors on First Team...

Not even close, there are 796 schools in OHIO in 5 districts, each District POY is guaranteed 1st team status, and then anyone who made an all district list will then get some type of mention on the All-State roll. Not even close to what you say. There are over 11,500 high school basketball players in OHIO

Maybe true, BTC. But it doesn't change the fact that the first team is actually made up of 10 players rather than 5. It reminds me of the teachers we all know who practically gives every student an A. It takes away the value of an A for those students who truly deserve it.

At the end of the day and in the grand scheme of things, it really isn't that important. Just something I find strange.

Think of it this way squared, if Ohio was going to set up some type of All Star game between all of Division II, they would have two first teams to play against each other. Fair or not, making an All-State list is a huge accomplishment. Hell, making an All-District list is too.

Based on those numbers, earning first, second, third, or honorable mention team honors in the State of Ohio is statistically tougher to earn that it is in any college conference.

Read on Twitter that Kinsey and Eastmoor were eliminated in the state semifinals in the early game this morning by Wauseon.

I went to today's playoff semi final hoping to be impressed. Unfortunately I wasn't. Physically he reminds me of Caris LaVert when he played at Pick Central. Rail thin, but nowhere near as talented, based on this single game. Very inconsistent shot. OK ball handling and passing, but not exceptional. Buddy of mine at the game, who has been watching Ohio high school hoops for over 3 decades, did not think he was a mid major player at this point.

I will say that he played hard and was very engaged on defense.

Neither Eastmoor nor Wauseon had anyone who could shoot the ball.

So, then looks like the MAC hands out more participation trophies than the AP for High Schools. ;-)

Jeff Boals has been offering Central Ohio kids all over. Must finally realize that there is talent in the Columbus area...... ;)

Good for the kid, I hope Boals can mine Central Ohio, but for me he never mined the area like he should have. Just saying
