per UA source. Martz is one of the better freshmen in Central Oh (in a class that includes several already gaining national attention), and his game has steadily improved through the year. Plays for one of the state's top coaches in Tim Casey. Has a smooth, feathery outside shot. Needs to add bulk, and is expected to add several inches in height. Will need to work on ball handling.

Dad Mike played hoops at Nebraska, including one year for Danny Nee...

Davidson has a Central Ohio connection.

Its leading scorer this past season is from Westerville North
(Jack Gibbs) and the team's third-leading scorer is from Upper
Arlington (Brian Sullivan, who started out at Miami). Sandwiched
between them was another Ohio high school player, Peyton Aldridge.

yep, and departing senior jordan barham is from Cleveland.

So why the pipeline from OH to suburban Charlotte? I'm told one reason might be that Coach Bob McKillop is an occasional visitor, since his daughter and son-in-law live in the Central OH area...

That was good stub. ^^^^ Not hating on Larry, but Western Carolina must be satisfied with 14-17 records for a decade.

I'm not hating on him either, even though I was never a fan of his when he coached here. I now root for him - and O'Shea and Groce.

Biggest mistake he ever made was not taking the Kansas State job. I thought at the time, those jobs don't come along very often. 23 years later......

Max hit the winning 3 at the buzzer last night against Westerville South. Max finished with 20. Wesson (OSU recruit) had 49, including the last 21 for his team and Goodwin (OSU recruit) pumped in 35. Hell of a game.

I like him a lot. Saw him at Flyin to the Hoop as well. Still a form shot that needs fluidity to it, but definitely someone that can grow into what he's doing.

Compare the jump shot to Mr. Culver's, whose shot I think really needs some summertime tinkering by someone who knows how to teach shooting.

(but whose game I otherwise think is fantastic)

Still haven't seen an offer from Ohio yet from my research, but Bowling Green, Toledo, Marist and Stony Brook have offered Max this summer.

Haven't seen or heard much about Max lately, but he added an offer from Dartmouth back in October. Here's a lengthy piece on him.
