I am confused by this in terms of adding another point guard. We will have Kirk for two more years and Preston will most likely redshirt this year so then we have the Butler/Kirk Corollary where one guy is over the other and we get a transfer out of it.

I have no idea really, but what leads you to believe Preston will redshirt this year? It seems he should be the backup point guard.

I do see the concern that if Watts signed, Ohio would have a junior, sophomore and freshman at point guard for the 2019-20 season, but maybe one of them plays off the ball more at that point (probably Preston if he has grown to 6-4 as his coaches have suggested). And it is important to have more than two ball handlers available.

It's only interest at this point, guys. Sheesh.

I'm of the belief that the staff should stay in contact with everyone they think could be a good fit for our system as long as they're available, even if our scholarships are full or there's a logjam at a certain position. Gotta have a backup plan if someone transfers or doesn't pan out.

It's a guard's game and you can never have enough ballhandlers and distributors. I don't see the issue particularly when Watts would be coming in knowing what we have on the roster. And frankly it wouldn't bother me to see Kirk playing off the ball more.
