@rodgerbohn: 2017 AJ Gareri is going to make a college coach VERY happy w/versatility he brings.Producing inside and out vs King James.#SpieceRunNSlam

Also has an offer from Kent State along with interest from Xavier, Illionois, , Penn State, Dayton, Toledo and Cornell according to his Twitter account.

When the coaching caravan came to Cbus this spring, I was fortunate enough to talk to coach Phillips. Said ideally, he'd like to have team that's split 50-50 between instate/outstate...

I think that makes a lot of sense for the most part. The competition for in state kids is intense given the number of D1 programs in Ohio. And not just that, but GOOD programs.

I'm cool if he says that. But in reality I want 'best available' for Ohio. And if the kid is from in state, then it's a bonus.

I remember people gave Solich all sorts of heck for not going after local kids during the first signing day open house thing. Ever since, they've made it a point to let everyone know who's local.

I would rather get a better talent than a local talent. Also, I think its important to look at offers more so than the signing class. When I was applying to schools, I brought home an application to Cincinnati being that I am from Cincinnati. My mom tore it up and said "No", it was too close. Nothing wrong with trying to get away...

A little confused as to what you call local. Same or less distance to Connersville IN , Cynthiana KY, Lima OH, Charleston WV or maybe 20 more miles to PGH. if that is the point.

As a parent a 3 -4 hour drive is a bonus. Most of the P's I know and spent years on the AAU circuit with drove that or more to see their kid. If you count local as anyplace in OHIO then you pass on a bunch of kids within the circle you can draw with that parameter.

I would think the way we are playing, and Saul Ball in general, would appeal very much to a big man. The quick ball movement and our dedication to getting it to Tony has to look good to prospects who envision themselves making a mark at the next level.

I've seen this young man play in person this year and think of a more athletic Jake Kretzer! Kid likes contact and no matter how much the opposition bodied him and tried to take him out of his game he stepped up. Would be a nice get for a year when we have to replace Tone, Wad and Kenny. He and Carter are similar except this kid can only get stronger whereas I think Carter will stick to more of a 3. Gareri can be a stretch 4.

I talked with his high school trainer this morning and she said that he is a really good kid. No big head and works with all very well. Sounds like someone who would fit the SaulBall system.

Ellet plays Copley at Copley tomorrow night for those interested. Winner goes to the district semifinals at Alliance High School and plays the winner of Boardman and Lake.

Ellet was bounced from the tournament by undefeated Copley, 73-49, despite a monster night from AJ. He had 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Google his name and you will find several interesting articles about Gareri. He chose Ohio over offers from Kent State, Toledo and BGSU.

Wow nice fit. Grab the PG from SVSM and we've got two great ones right from under Dambrodt's nose.
