I'm elated to see what coach Boals has accomplished in such a short period of time and I'm really looking forward to next season. I think we're one piece away from really cookin' with gas--a JC center with two years of eligibility.

If we could land that player with the final scholarship, that would give us two bigs who have played some level of college ball to man the post this upcoming season and it would take the pressure off of force-feeding Nate Springs if he's not yet ready to warrant significant minutes.

Then you bring in a high school center in the 2020 class.

I doubt this is happening. I get the impression they want to bank the last scholarship. I guess its possible; we shall see.

I don’t see anything wrong with banking the last schollie.

OUr future’s so bright I think I’ll wear shades.

We may have another one, Coach Boals has a 5+1=6, indicating 6 commits tweet and we need more than one big man that can play, two if you count BVP. Bring it on. https://twitter.com/JeffBoals/status/1131253311217242114?...

I'm counting Sylvester Ogbonda as the one--and we don't know if he had handle starter's minutes, because he never has. I'm looking at Nate Springs as someone who we're hoping will earn some minutes as a redshirt freshman. It would be great if he's ready to play significant minutes, but who knows?

Since neither of them are a given, that's why I'm advocating for a JC transfer who can come in and start or play major minutes off the bench. To me, VanderPlas is a stretch four, who may be able to help out a bit at small forward, not in the post.

That tweet refers to Sylvester Ogbonda, as it took place prior to his announcing it himself on Twitter.

I'm with Jeff - I agree there's a very, very high chance they're banking that scholarship for the fall recruiting of 2020 recruits.

5+1=6, we have a total of 5 commits.

We had five committed/signed recruits: McDay, Roderick, Price, Brown, and Foster. Ogbonda makes six

He doesn't have to go straight to 38 minutes a game. He could be one of those starters who logs in 22 minutes and is brought out into the second half in key situations.

I'm just wondering if this staff is going to be OK with having a transfer, plus two freshmen as their only bigs heading into the season. Going after another 2019 recruit doesn't make much sense unless he's a gamebreaker who has slipped through the cracks. My best guess is another veteran is in the works, via JC or grad transfer, or as Jeff mentioned, pocketing the scholarship.

Jeff Boals and his staff have done an amazing job building this roster in such a short period of time. They've checked almost all of the boxes. If the team can just hold its own in the post, it can challenge for the MAC title this season, in my opinion.

So I do believe they'll bring in a JC transfer capable of starting, a three-star caliber freshman who can contribute significant minutes right away, or another grad transfer who can fill either role.

If they can't attract any of the three, I would think they'll hold onto that last scholarship. But I do believe someone will become available over the next few months. They usually do...

He doesn’t need to pocket the scholarship because if springs and McMurtry don’t perform, they won’t be renewed. He is treating the schollie like gold and looking for a big fish, he is not thinking inside the box. He has a visitor this weekend.

Guys, allen (and most of the rest of us) doesn't know who this player is. Boals said something about it at the Columbus Caravan last week. Time to monitor Twitter for the Boals "bat signal" as Fear called it.

When/if you see him on campus; if it's who I think it is, he'll be very hard to miss; LET US KNOW on this site!!! And don't let him leave town without declaring he'll be wearing Bobcat green. Similarly to the recruitment of Papi White in football, it could be advantageous that we may be one of his last visits.

Doc, I honestly don't know. Meaning, I know who I'd want it to be, but that doesn't make it so. Hence, someone tell us who it is if/when you see someone 6-9 or taller strolling around the campus...

A Boals bat signal on twitter in early June would be tremendous.

Just listened to the Athens Caravan and he sounded much less optimistic than he has at previous stops when rumors were swirling about recruits. Kind of got the hunch there were possibilities, but nothing imminent. Just a hunch reading between the lines. Disappointed nobody asked him a question about it as he seemed open to talking some.
