More depth doesn’t hurt I suppose

Tell ya what, if this kid becomes a Bobcat he's not gonna just settle for being "depth." He's gonna compete. He was a good three point shooter in HS at Hilliard Bradley and shot almost 49% his freshman year at Oakland. Son of a coach. Could be a Dartis type. He was injured much of his sr year in H.S. so didn't receive a lot of notoriety.

He would be a great get, no matter the depth. Visted Richmond (offer) and Notre Dame recently. Also going to visit Butler and Toledo.

Nice looking stroke toward the end of this highlight:

If this offer tells me anything it tells me two things:

1. Boals is hell-bent on locking up Central Ohio. With that, go forth and be fruitful.
2. He doesn't have a boatload of confidence in Preston if he's already landed Brown and is now hunting Norris.

Saw him play in December against Northern. He was tremendous. Couldn't believe he was a freshman. This would be a great get.

This is how recruiting looks. Upgrading and competition at every position each year. Hopefully this motivates Preston to take the next leap in his progress.

Also, remember Boals states he wants to play 3 wings plus a PG and center. Who says one of those wings can't also be one of your PG's if you have several?

Agree with those who say this would be a great get.

The paint job on the floor at Oakland is almost as bad as Northern Illinois. Sheesh.

I like the offer. I'm not sure you can have enough good shooters.

Sounds like you have watched Ohio basketball the last two years when we...haven't...had...any. And I agree!

If he is a freshman that means after his transfer year he would join the massive cluster of class of 2023 players, I believe he would make 9. I kind of love that for some reasons but worry about the players that do not get the playing time early on not being able to see PT on the horizon and bolting.

As I looked at Ted's recruiting grid I had to laugh. I went back through the years and did a site search looking for posts on "balancing the classes". I have a feeling some are going to get recruited over in the future.

That's the way I was looking at it. Carrying potentially 4 PG's is not going to go over well no matter how you slice it.

I don't see it as that much of an issue because of a couple of them are more combo guards so can play the 2.

I agree - also, if it can work other places, because those players all get PT, will they really care who starts as the 1? I can't read minds, but I would guess that college players care about two things: 1) playing time, and 2) winning.

Was aiming that towards Preston specifically, but with the current kids they hafta understand that it's going to go down no matter how ya slice it. At any rate, I would say this kid is a definite take.

The new normal is 1-2 players a year inevitably transferring out. Boals is not being complacent and is instead planning for the future. The comment of winning is an interesting one. It was not too long ago that I recall posters calling winning as a lower priority on their list. Moving on.

Bucknut - Before you "move on" - which we know you won't (looking forward to first negative live game chat post this next season) - Lower priority than what? Name names - Give specific examples....

Save it for another thread. Let's keep this thread focused on this offer instead of your obsession with focusing on one minor part of my post.

Seems to be a consistently predictable posting/chat room M.O. So I will save it for that predictably first negative chat room post.....
