Has Ohio showed any interest in this southern Ohio big? I would hate to lose another one to Akron!

Look him on on verbal commits, 24/7, Max preps, etc. and see what you find.

He has an offer from West Virginia. I don't think he'll be coming here or Akron.

So does this mean we don't even offer him? Don't talk to him? Sounds like Timmy O'Shea
's recruiting style to me!

How the hell would we know whether we've talked to him or not? Staffs make offers based on whether someone is a good fit and also the other players who they have signed or recruited.

Why would we want/offer someone with an offer from WVU? Hahaha, of course we should go after the kid! You win with very good players. I am guessing this guy is one.

At times there are big time players in your area. You know as well as I do there are guys who are system fits and those who are not. Perhaps we saw something in his game that wasn't a system fit.

That said, WVU tends to take kids who can go full-court and be that athletic type. Personally, I feel each mid-major has a mirror at the big time level where they recruit similar style ball players that can easily fit in. Not sure who we would align with in regards to these kind of kids, but when WVU comes calling with their athletic full-court style, they tend to be an interesting fit in Athens.

Offer from Duquesne.

I'd be down for a home and home with Duquesne so I can continue making fun of the Keith Dambrot/angry elf

The kid looks like he's got decent inside moves and knows how to get low and get position but I didn't see any jumpers. He will also need to work on the body. Otherwise, I am good not getting him. I wish we had Carson Williams instead from Northern Kentucky.

Didn't see that coming. Thought maybe Pitt would be more likely in that neck of the woods. Pitt has been pretty good at taking project Bigs and getting them coached up

No kidding? Dixon's gone? Coaching NITs with Des Bane or something?

Well, if that is the case ...not like Stallings did not have a few big stiffs that he developed at Vandy

from the reports heard I thought this one would go high major. Big, wide, good feet....that is a pretty good get for the Dukes.

This one doesn't surprise me. Seeing the "Duquesne offers Swingle" tweets the night Duquesne hired Dambrot/the angry elf gave me a sense he was going to make this a priority.

I've argued that Dambrot was overrated at Akron. He couldn't win in March and I don't agree with those who argue that's a "MAC issue." However, I also don't agree with those who argue he won't be successful at Duquesne. I think he is going to win there and win big. Unlike Groce and Christian, Dambrot going to Duquesne keeps him in his recruiting hotbed.

I'm so thankful we've got Saul. With Dambrot at Duquesne and Groce at Akron, we're going to need every ounce of his charisma to fight these recruiting battles.

Speaking of Groce, he and his staff have added three pretty good transfers, but they all look to have to sit out this coming season.

I think they are up to 4. One each from ECU, Florida, Long Beach State and Oregon State unless one fell through.

I'm sure some people will over-react when Groce has a losing season this year, but they're going to come roaring back next year.

The former Beaver is eligible immediately is he not?

I do think the transfer route he is taking will play better at a mid than it did at UI.

Akron though....what kind of trouble can a kid possibly get into up there? ;0

Seems like someone is looking for a really quick fix.

And then a lot of wins followed by a quick exit? ;-)

My understanding when he was being recruited is that he wanted to go to a higher level program.
