Verbal Commits reporting we have offered the PG from the state champs. Current offers on their list include us and Buffalo.

Buffalo has former SVSM star Jayvon Graves on the roster who played a pretty important role on the team as a freshman off the bench.

McDay had 19 points in SVSM's win over Trotwood-Madison in the D2 State Final.

Not sure how he's going to translate as a PG at the next level, but I see good things. A growth spurt for a wing would be nice. Really like that he plays pressure D on the ball. Pretty smooth from 10-15 feet. Moves well without the ball and cuts.

I saw a replay of their state title win over Trotwood Madison last night. McDay was VERY impressive.

Stole a guy from Akron's back yard and beat out Buffalo where his former teammate plays. Great get.

Welcome Lunden!

Comes from a nationally known program that plays a tough schedule. Came up big on the big stage at the state championship with a 19 pt effort over Trotwood Madison as St. V took the D-2 title.

This is a very good get for Ohio. Both for McDay as an individual and also getting someone from AVSM.

Having this guy on staff probably doesnt hurt with recruiting St.V. players.

Since many probably didn't get to see this, if you did, what was your assessment of what you saw from Lunden?

Lunden was up to the task, spire ran a full court press defense and had four to five high major recruits including rocket watts a Michigan state commit, they also had a junior who is a top 15 prospect. Lunden rushed some shots but he scored 10 points and played good defense. His team was outmanned and he and on their forwards were the only two Irishmen that belonged on the court with Spire. He defended Lamelo very well and Rocket watts probably got the best of Lunden at times, but Lunden can play and he will probably never be outmanned like that again, so he won’t have to rush shots. He is a solid guard, needs a little better handle, his handle is adequate but he could not break the press.

No matter how good your handles are, trying to beat a press by yourself is never a good idea. You beat a press with passing and getting the ball to the middle of the floor. That's more of a scheme and coaching thing. Hopefully he won't have that problem here. Plus colleges don't press as much, unless you're WVU.

Very true. On a few occasions he had to beat the 8 count because his teammates left him and he didn’t look like he could dribble through people like Tyus Edney could, but he has an adequate handle. He is good, he was a little unsettled because Spires athletes were in his face continually. Spire’s starting five took turns executing windmill dunks off of steals at the the end of the game. They wore Lunden and SVSM down, but Lunden stood out as someone that could hold their own against Spire’s talent.
