I'm not ready to bury any of these new guys yet until I can see them play.
This. Let's see what they do on the court in November and December and then declare whether they appear to be good or bad recruiting decisions. Or at least that's my personal approach like yours is.

According to Verbal Commits and Twitter Ohio has received a verbal commit from high school senior Torey James out of Hickory, North Carolina.

DI offers listed as VMI, Kenneswaw State, and USC Upstate with a slew of DII(?) offers.

My sentiments remain unchanged. As many DI schools as there are nationally, and as hard as they all appear to be trying in the recruiting game, if you can successfully/consistently pick-up guys that few if anyone else is interested in, then you’re either a genius or the very opposite

And it's this recruiting philosophy that will make or break Saul Ball in #10Months.

The good news is Hickory won 27 games and was ranked #28 in North Carolina.

That's not bad.

The kid looks like he's maybe the 3rd best player on that team. I'm not sure how that would translate over to NCAA d-1 hoops.

He was named to the all district team and was widely considered the best player on the team.

If the third best player on the team averages 21 ppg, #28 in the state is reaaaaally disappointing.

Torey James scored 17 points last night in the West's 108-106 victory over the East in the North Carolina East West All Star Senior Game.

Something that made me think on this: When do freshmen and new players usually come to campus? Seemed late into the summer for this all-star game, but maybe it's normal?

Former Bobcat picks up an offer from San Jose State, so things must be going well at JC level.

Interesting to look back at some of these threads.

Didn’t Jay Kinney end up at San Jose State?

Yes, and was eventually their do-everything player. Dropped 30 at Allen Fieldhouse his senior year.

Didn’t he end up getting kicked off team his senior year there as well? If I remember correctly had a good junior year on a bad San Jose team but ran into troubles his last year there.

I liked Torey. I thought he would be solid. Felt like he was getting the Laster treatment. Early on in Mikes career felt like Saul did not care for him and all he did was produce.
