But any confirmation on if he's eligible for this season? People on here believe so, but I haven't seen anything from the university or Boals on this.

The NCAA in May will be voting on a new transfer rule that would make 6'8" Wilson eligible. Sure would be nice.
6'8 .Miguel
6'9".Towns
6'9".Granger

would not count on any transfer rule change being retroactive, but we shall see.

I'd almost rather he wait a year to play to coincide with Preston's and BVP's senior years, but that's assuming they both are back for then and you never can be sure of that.

I agree. I like the idea of him being an insurance piece to show BVP and Preston that their senior year will be truly special. I really think that with BG and Kron we have to be the team to beat next year with just our returnees. Add in 4 new guys and we could have 2 really special back to back seasons. Remember, Wilson will get a year to work with the guys, work with Boals and add to his game.

I question whether the change in the rule would be to the advantage of mid majors. I'd almost rather see the rule not changed and see Wilson sit out a year.

Did the NCAA ever get around to deciding about transfers being allowed to play without sitting out for a year?

Don't have to convince me.

Is he here for one or two years? With Covid-19 isn't this a no-count year just like it is for football, or is his situation different because he's a transfer?

I remember looking at the transfer portal last spring and preferring Ohio would land Justyn Hamilton from Temple for no other reason than I was familiar with his name as Ohio was one of his final choices before he signed with Temple. Watching Kent play UVa the other day and seeing what Hamilton brings to the Flashes v. what Wilson has shown as a Bobcat, I gotta admit that I'm glad Boals and staff ended up with Wilson.

I'm curious about this rule too. I've heard that will be the case, but I'm trying to grasp how that's going to work with 13 scholarships going forward? Are they going to give exceptions for a few years?

I kind of got the answer from a Bobcat grad as it turns out.

@DavidPJablonski Replying to @ou_country:

Returning seniors won’t count against limits next year but in subsequent seasons players taking advantage of the extra year will count.

Hmm . . . that's interesting. Not sure what that will do down the line, but it looks good for next year.

My thoughts exactly. There are going to be some potentially interesting recruiting related decisions in 2021-22.

It is a total raw deal for the 2021 and 2022 fringe recruits...will definitely lead to less offers. Have to wonder if he prep schools will be flooded with guys the next couple years...then those guys may eat into the 2023 and 2024 recruits. It has a long tail.

I have been trying to think this through. The majority of the NCAA is NOT the 50 kids who come out as pros. That means there are about 1500 kids in these 2 0r 3 classes that have the opportunity to get 5 years of school and finish their degrees and start another year or transfer under the new rules. It will create quite the conundrum as we go forward. Unintended consequences.
