Kids got a smooth shot. I like how he plays and his hustle with the block and then finish on the other end.

I want this guy!!! Granted, we're watching a highlight film, so every shot goes in. But he's got a quality stroke and appears to fit the mold of the stretch-four that coach Boals is looking for.

The interesting thing to me is that in his first interviews, coach mentions wanting to play a PG, Center, and 3 wings. I guess this guy is considered a wing?

OU Country: I think the third wing position is a stretch-four, although I haven't officially gotten that from coach Boals. That's what Kenny Kaminsky was and what Ben Vander Plas figures to be. It forces the defense to pull a rebounder away from the basket and forces him to guard out on the floor, which may not be in a power forward's comfort zone. It also can take the double-team off of our center, if he's a legitimate low-post scorer, if we can extend our shooting range to both corners as well as around the circle, on both sides of the floor at the same time.

I didn't think he'd transfer because I didn't know Jason Carter was ready to graduate this spring or summer, but I was concerned about how he'd fit in this scheme, as stretching the floor with his "j" has not been his strength to this point. It's too late for this, but wow, if Carter had been two inches taller, he probably would have been perfect in coach Boals' system as a low-post center. Perfect probably wouldn't have been the correct word. Try devastating! Then again, if I were two inches taller, I'd be 5-9!

If verbal commits is accurate it appears every other school that has offered, with the exception of Brown, either has a PF signed or committed.

I have to think that bodes well for us.

The other offers from some decent D1 schools should make some folks on this board happy.

Sorry. Way back, didn't there used to be pictures and emojis here. I never posted back then so someone who did will have to verify.

There was a time when they existed, yes. There was a server issue that caused that stuff to go away if I'm not mistaken.

These "old fashioned" options still exist:

He liked Price and Roderick’s announcing on twitter. His profile offers zero indication of where he’s going. However he’s followed on twitter by Boals and Thornton. The other 2 guys they both follow signed. Could be absolutely nothing but it seems like he may be in the conversation.

Twitter behavior is not always a good way to get a read on a player's intentions.

The more I research this kid the more I like him.
His stats aren't overly impressive, but consider the team he played for this year. National Prep champs. Five teammates going high major (Texas, OSU, NC State, Miami and Cal). Also the number three soph in the country, and a 4-star Jr PG (Jamal Mashburn, Jr).

The kid going to NC Sate may end up in this year's NBA draft.

Meeks looks like a possible plug and play replacement for Carter.

Gotta disagree. While not perfect, it is definitely a solid way to gauge interest when you take into consideration current/future teammates, recruiting services, and coaches connected to the recruits through social media accounts.

It looks like Zane just got an offer from Oakland and he is trying to get a teammate to get him a schollies to Cal, let’s hope that he wants a chance to play right away for a great school. Go Cats

I see the Cal tweet you're referring to and I think you're reading a little too deeply.
