He just got a transfer guard from Florida with a 6'10 wingspan. It is a good thing that we signed Kirk and Butler, they will need to be ready to rock.

I wasn't saying anything about Patton or generalizing that he would bring in only non-academic qualifiers. I was just mentioning that he can stash guys like Dambrot did who have not qualified. We do not have that luxury.

Framing a moral-Setting the up a framework for a moral victory. We start a narrative about people are signing nonqualifiers and if they beat us, then we start talking about how smart our guys area and how they are all-americans at heart. Don't let us have one or two all-MAC academic players. We will say Sual likes them smart and we will have fans that will say they once changed Bonzi Wells diapers at a gym when he was young and he was a bad hombre. Another will say that they have 40 years of recruing experience and will say that in their storied history of recruiting that this team is the smartest team that we have ever seen We say that athletes who come from good programs did not want to come hear because our academic prowess. Framing morals is pretty fun, but I prefer winning.

I am sure that we have higher admission standards, a nonqualifier is a nonqualifier. A nonqualifier will either go to prep school or to a JUCO. We had one person on the all-academic team, I believe he had a 3.2 GPA in communications. Let's not act like we have Harvard standard. Toledo, BGSU, Akron and Kent are open admissions or they used to be so there standards are loose. We can get a slight moral out of that, but why go for the morals and not the W. Let's go Cats

Daily, or at least, weekly eye roll's here. What's unfortunate is that there's plenty of real solid contributions drowned out by babble and nonsense about "moral's and medi's". And I agree with your thought from another post in this thread, there are at least a good solid half dozen, probably more, folks I have gotten to know personally through this forum over the years. I'm a smarter Bobcat fan, and I have more fun being one, as a result of those relationships formed starting here. Those who don't try to do it that way are really missing out on getting to know some good people.

Sir, I just want to be real. We are all grown men and women. I may have different opinions than you, but I love Ohio. I want the best for Ohio. I am optimistic Ohio and most importantly real about Ohio. If someones opinion hurts my feelings, I don't accuse them of trying to start riots, that would be letting my emotions to get the best of me. I would inbox the person and ask them what they mean or look deep within myself to see ifI have tunnel vision or ignore the person. I don't believe that you or I is the governor of Ohio sports, so the attempt to assign motives and tell people how they should think is not our job. I don't place winning over everything. Last week, two bobcats got drafted, I felt like I won the lottery. I don't know the young men, but I know that I had similar dreams and did not work hard, but they did. I celebrated their victory with them in spirit. I am happy to see our basketball players go oversaes, I lived in Germany for three years, it was tremendous for me, so I can only imagine how they feel. I do want to win. I want our players to say, I played for Ohio and we went to the tournament and we beat Michigan. I want them to get rings that intrigue people and cause them to ask what is that? They can respond, we won a championship in college. When I was in botcamp, we had a guy named Pegues and he played football for Mount Union. The drill sergeants looked up Mount Union and would ask him about their championships, they loved it. When I worked in HR, we hired basketball players and we always talked out their experiences. These young men do something that less than one percent of us do, so they are inherently expected to win. I want what the players want. God bless you again

Bottom line, let's see how this plays out in two years when both coaches are firmly established and go from there.

Otherwise, this was a kid I liked a lot at Flyin to the Hoop, and I think he will be a good contributor at Akron for John Groce.
