According to Lebanon basketball's instagram. I live and coach in the district, so I'll be sure to see this kid a few times this year. Had 29 points in his high school debut against Miamisburg. I caught some of that stream on hudl. Kid has some Cooper in him.

Just saw this young man over at Winton Woods. If he were a senior I'd say solid MAC prospect. But he's a freshman and I think ranked top 50 in that class by some services. The upside is really high. He has a comfortable, tight handle, good crossover, can get in the lane, really good leaper, battles hard for rebounds and close outs, mature physique for his age and Cooper level competitiveness. More of a scorer mentality now than distributor. Excited to see more of him. Couldn't help but notice the swagged out 3SSB rep going out to meet him at the end of the handshake line.

Really fun game last night against rival Kings. Coffey was quiet until the fourth quarter and then it turned into "Coffey time". Pick it up here: https://www.youtube.com/live/2eGvlmuPN74?si=6Ftv-H1_Jdwcn... . Played even with Kings' Tommy Clark, a senior committed to Bellarmine.

Under-recruited player. He could absolutely help in the MAC. A taller, more explosive Ajay Sheldon. Check out that dunk halfway through the fourth - the explosiveness to rev up inside the arc with a defender challenging.

Clark definitely a MAC level player. Also got offers from Big South and OVC schools.

You can really see the playmaking ability here. The clip where he's on the ground and #11 hits the shot, Jashawn actually tried to drive down the lane but the handle got deflected so he threw it through his legs shotgun snap style.

My son did basketball camp at Lebanon this week. As these things go, the high school players help run drills and scrimmages. You couldn't ask for a more infectious, happy to be there, make the experience special for the kids personality than what Jashawn showed.

I have seen three of Lebanon's four games so far this season. Similar statistical output as last year thus far but I don't think his supporting cast as strong now so I think he has to carry more of the load. Athleticism and physicality have improved. He has a handful of dunks already, even going for two-handed head hunts in the front court and he plays like a power forward against his matchup sometimes which is impressive from a guy who's really only about 5'11". My son approached him after the Loveland game to say hi and he remembered his name from camp. Good dude. Very much an alpha on the floor, a Cooper-esque competitor.

Just back from watching Jashawn and Lebanon beat Beavercreek to close down the old Lebanon High School gym in a "Throwback Night". Have some great memories from my coaching days there, but that's for another day.

Would LOVE to get Jashawn in a Bobcat uniform, but imagine he will end up "out of reach" (which is frustrating to say...after Groce...thought we were headed to ve "one of those mid-majors"....seems that day may have passed). Lots of positives with few areas of growth. Really enjoyable to watch him play. Crazy he is only a sophomore. Lebanon could have had him and Anthony Thompson (OSU commit and McDonald's All American) on same team if Anthony hadn't transferred after his first two years at Lebanon to Western Reserve.

Positives: gets downhill very effectively and to the basket in open court and 1/2 court, willing and VERY skilled distributor, quick leadper, elite finisher, has deep range, great attitude, positive demeanor, seems a very good teammate, quick lateral movement on D, good rebounder on both ends

Areas of Growth: pullup game...might have it, but I didn't see it and would be a nice part of his game at the next level. Hard to describe thus next growth area, but could improve his horizontal and tight space handle. Got a little loose with ball when guarded tightly or without a chance to be going vertical.

Just a really exciting player. I like Shaba's Cooperesque comparison. IMHO, jashawn is a bit better athlete and getting downhill. Coop seemed better in those tight space handles

I wanted to go but my son's team had practice. It's been a while since I've seen them but I will probably be there for their tournament game Monday.

To use a Groce term, he's "the straw that stirs the drink". Losing Thompson plus eight seniors in one offseason a couple years ago, the program has been underclassman Coffey and some guys, including no rotational players over 6'2", yet they're 26-20 in that time which is quite commendable.

His shooting percentage needs to get better. He's good from inside the arc, which is mostly getting to the rim but the three pointers and free throws are inconsistent.
