The reeling Cardinal program has not hired interim Coach Dave Padgett. He may want to check out PITT? Rumor has it NOBODY wants that job!

The one thing that may hamper Louisville from getting their ideal coach is that there still may be more to hit the fan from the whole adidas scandal. I've not followed every minor step of the situation to date but I'm not convinced that the worst of it is over just yet. Not fair to whoever the coach will be but by signing a contract with the university they are then bound to whatever consequences may yet come. It's hard enough to compete in the ACC without being tethered to any NCAA penalties.

That being said, if enough greenbacks are involved, there are many a coach who would endure the situation. $5,000,000+ goes a long way in a metro area like Louisville especially.

There was discussion in Cincinnati yesterday on the radio that they expect an offer for Mack from LVille that is for 7-9 years, $4mil+ a year, with out clauses for the coach if there are massive sanctions filed against the Cards. Essentially, they are trying to create a no lose situation for Mack.

It is good to know that Louisville is cautiously moving forward in the wake of such a major scandal.

L'ville has to clean house after Pitino. Disinfect the place, too. Whoever comes in will probably have a worse situation than O'Brien had at Penn St after the Sandusky scandal. He'll need lots of money and an easy out, with or without major sanctions. It's going to be tough there for probably the next three or four years because of the ongoing scrutiny. This is a federal investigation, so they won't be able to talk their way out of things like Penn St did during the second year.

I heard over the weekend Coach K was pushing Jon Scheyer for the PITT job....looks like PITT negotiated a better deal.
