Looks like Ohio University has a long tradition of standing for things. Like prohibition, I sure hope stands for defense goes by the wayside too.

Sort of a stretch, I think. It looks like that sign is using the word "stands" with another meaning. It would be #6 in this list: https://www.thefreedictionary.com/stands
