Did I see it correctly that we didn't have a single guy on the top 3 teams? Buffalo has four guys on the All-League team? Ringo makes Third Team? What a joke. I get that we weren't very good but Laster deserved to be a Third Team guy at least. Awful. I want the voter names. We always get screwed!

Interesting to see Turner and Sibande on both All Freshman and All League Honorable Mention. Guess that means they're probably the freshman of the year too.

Edit following Bobcat1998's post... here are the full all-mac teams:

I guess Doug Taylor ending the season with more blocks and a better per game average than JT4 doesn't matter for All-Defensive team voters. ;)

I'm sorry but two guys from a ZONE defensive team do not deserve All-Defense. The zone, while a valuable tool in the tool belt, should never be a team's primary defense. And if it is, it's because that coach knows he has a lazy group of defenders. I saw every game we played and Doug was the single most dominating inside presence in the league this year defensively. I just think the voters really do hate our success. They screwed Akron and Kent this year too!

It looks like they more or less look at the league standings to give out the awards. If you played near the bottom, you don’t get many awards. I’ve never put much credence in these types of awards, I seen too many nonsensical picks.

I think Ringo is very high in the NCAA in both steals and assists. Can’t really argue too much.

Shawn Roundtree has as good an argument as anyone and is comparable to Tayler Persons at Ball State. I would definitely be furious. Stats aren't everything, but man...

Roundtree: 15.2 ppg, 3.8 apg, 85% FT, 37% FG, 34% 3FG, 1.3 AST ratio, 1006 minutes played

Persons: 14.9 ppg, 4.3 apg, 67% FT, 46% FG, 37% 3FG, 1.4 AST ratio, 917 minutes played

While DT led the league in blocks, I'm not convinced he's a strong man-on-man defender. Most of his blocks, from memory, have come on help defense, a great quality and benefit to any team's defense. However, I believe he will be a much better low-post defender next year when he starts preventing his man from getting great position close to the basket. Too often, his man had little resistance as he backed DT down.

DT came a long way the past month of the season and I look forward to what he can do along side Jason Carter for his final season.

I agree. I don't pay much attention these awards, and consider them almost meaningless, except, of course, when Tony Campbell is POY, then I think how wise and absolutely correct were the voters.

Doug also had 221 total rebounds, so 7.1 per game. Thompson had 357 total rebounds, 11.5 per game. That's more than a slight difference.

Which MAC returning player not on any of the all-MAC teams (who played this year, so not Jason Carter) has the brightest future? I have someone in mind, but I'd like to hear what others have to say first.

The number that stands out there is 37% shooting for Roundtree. That's bad. He took a lot of shots in order to score his points.

We were the 10th best team in the MAC, had a losing record and numerous injuries. All of our candidates for these awards were either hampered by injuries, inconsistent or both. We have no room to complain.

These all seem like pretty fair choices from the league's coaches.

Good.

TK is a good player. We need him to become great.

He's already a good scorer but has plenty of room for growth on his shot, his shot selection, being a true facilitator, cutting down TOs, defense etc.

Let's hope he uses this as motivation to get better. We need it.

Tell that to Jim Boeheim, who has employed a 2-3 zone very, very successfully at the highest levels for decades. Or, if we recall, John Chaney did the same thing at Temple with great success for many years.
