Was sitting on a bench at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland yesterday when I heard "Let's Go Bobcats!" from across the green. A Trinity student came running up to tell me he spent a weekend in Athens and misses it very much.

Next day, while standing in line at the Guinness Brewery Museum, a man walked up and opened his coat to reveal an "Ohio Football" sweatshirt. He is the father of former dean of students Ryan Lombardi.

While he and I were talking, a person in front of us piped in to say that his cousin plays on the Bobcat baseball team.

All in less than two days.

Great stories. My wife and I had somewhat similar experiences in Glasgow, Scotland, and Bath, England.

Son spent his junior year at Trinity and was the only American to make the soccer team. Loved playing with Gothic structures behind the pitch; quite a change from the cornfields here in SEO.

Great stories. I stopped by a winery in North Carolina wearing Ohio gear, and it turns out that the lady who served my wine was originally from Athens and had not been back for a while.

Dublin (Ohio) Giant Eagle today, met an old fella who played football for OHIO under Carroll Widdoes. He struck up a conversation because of my Ohio sweatshirt.

He was wearing a buckeye hat. I tripped on the way to his car.

(no I didn't, but seriously, people, what a bunch of bullshit)
