My friend called me from a bar in Jersey City to ask about a Google Cloud commercial asking about "upsets in the early rounds" to see if I had seen the one that has Ohio/Georgetown in it.

I started digging to find it with no success but I did find this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDZjcfMm-t8 I'll keep digging. Meanwhile if anyone sees it or finds the other one post up.

Haha that is funny. Sitting in a bar 2300 miles from home after a day cleaning up oil spills in Jersey City.... I suppose a Duke fan could mistake UM for Gtown.... depends on how many beers I guess. At least he saw Ohio

Good stuff. At the start of the tournament Adobe Analytics had a marketing campaign offering an online portal to their platform to help people select their brackets. They also offered a free trial to Adobe Analytics that gave you access to the entire college basketball database rather than just the limited view for tournament teams... This included all teams (whether they were in tournament or not) and all their game data. I was really impressed with the detail of the dataset. It had more detail and statistics on Ohio games than I had been able to find online previously.

I'm very happy to see Schaus in that video. I would imagine the underlying data in the Google Cloud is similar/identical to what I looked at in Adobe. These modern analytics programs really allow you to easily slice the data in interesting way and the software is good enough now that it isn't just meaningless numbers for stats junkies... You can break it down to a level that any coach and player can appreciate. I hope we are proactive in this area moving forward.

Here is article about adobe campaign I mentioned above:

You shold get a look at the film breakdowns available now. "show me all clips of #11 in the right corner". Now "show me all clips of #11 shooting from the corner", "now show me all clips of # 11 driving from the right corner'. "what % of the clips of #11 in the corner does he shoot? Fake? Drive?"

When you build a scout you can show all tendencies a player has. Watched K State defend Robinson last night. Back down from the corner, back , back , back. Pick the dribble up on the right block, come left shoulder. Defender already slid to his left taking the shot away.... Straight off the scout. It really is amazing that the computer will show you all clips of a particular player by spot on the floor by action.... Really amazing
