Can't read the full story without a WSJ subscription or giving them too much information. First paragraph was interesting, though! ;-)

Why isn't Marshall the Lawmen, and Lawwomen? Of course, the spelling is different Marshall and Marshal. But close enough for the average hilljack, of which I am one!

Of course, since the school is named after Chief Justice John Marshall, they could the Justices, the Federalists, the Continentals, or even the Marbury vs. Madisons! ;-)

[The student yearbook there is called the Chief Justice.]

The different spelling of Marshall and Marshal reminds me of a Marshall graduation that I was at as a faculty member. At the graduation, they had marshals who were in charge of making sure folks got seated and generally keeping order. They had little badges that said "Marshal." One parent was overheard saying to one of the marshals, your badge has the school's name spelled wrong!

Kind of reminds me of a time that I was at a store with my parents in junior high, wearing a t-shirt for my school wrestling team that I was a member of. Someone in passing pointed to my shirt and said "oh, you play wrestling?!"

I honestly would have a hard time disliking them if they were known as the Buffalo Wings.

That totally sounds like a name that could show up one day for a minor league baseball or hockey team. I mean there are the Akron Rubber Ducks and Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.

Is there a team in Macon (GA) named the Bacon? Should be if there isn't.
