Saul said (my abbreviated notes):

JC is fully back, playing with no limitation or hesitation.

jordan has had 2 surgeries and his playing with big time discomfort meant a lot to the guys.

BVP- looks terrific. imagine playing with two Carters next season.

apologies for short choppy sentences, my cel messes up hiding the SUBMIT MESSAGE button when i type too many words.

i asked Saul to tell us something about Doug and he blew me away with his response. what a remarkable young man who has overcome a ton of adversity in his life. so proud he represents our university.

Thanks for the share OBC. Go tidbit on Murrell and BVP. Also cool if we can get a road game at X or UC.

Following up here ... Arkley confirms Ohio will play at Xavier next year in a one off game. Also home games with Marshall & Iona. And roadie at Purdue (part of home and home) Shaping up to be better schedule than recent years?

Marshall
Iona
at Xavier
at Purdue
at Jamaican tourney (x3)

Let's hope it's not 3 SWAC/MEACtion games to round it out ... but I guess you can pencil in that dreadful non-D1 game in late December too.

Because of the MAC scheduling rules, you can all but guarantee it. But I'm good with this schedule for the road. Hope we get a draw in Jamaica similar to what we got in Charleston this past year.

Seconded. Until the MAC modifies the scheduling rules for home games, it's probably reasonable to expect 3-4 of those kinds of home games. As a fan, all I'd hope for is the teams to be more regionally relevant (Horizon, Ohio Valley teams instead of SWAC/MEAC teams.)

FWIW, the Jamaica Classic is November 17-19 in Montego Bay. Each team plays 3 games.

someone posted elsewhere that we drew georgetown in jamaica .... which isn't awful

the field from this tourney last year wasn't too bad ... a few high majors and some decent mid-majors ... a few low majors. no chaminade's or anything that i noticed.

and I agree ... I'd rather replace Alcorn St with Evansville or Southern Illinois .... I'm baffled they can't get home-and-homes set up with MVC teams that are in need of home games too.

I'm pretty sure they could, but the home-and-homes now are Marshall, Iona and Purdue. With the Jamaica tournament and games at Purdue and Xavier, there's probably not much room for another home-and-home this year unless it starts with Ohio at home this season (and then that affects scheduling for next year). The last few times Ohio has had neutral site tournaments, there have been either one or two true non-conference road games.

The thing is, schools like Evansville and SIU are going to demand a home/home from a MAC team. I think it's good that we've been able to schedule home/homes with Marshall, WKU, Richmond in recent years, but with our home game mandate, we have only so much room for those deals. Your Coppins and Alcorns play 11/12 non-conference games on the road because they need the buy money to fund their programs
