Saul doesn't have that big of a contract.
His contract is massive for a MAC coach. Consider that Rob Senderoff just got bumped up to $385,000. Unlike SP, he has a winning conference record, has taken his team to the NCAA Tournament and has won division titles. Or look at Nate Oats, who only just passed SP to be the highest-paid MAC coach after winning a tournament game and nailing down the best recruiting class this conference has seen in many years.
All that in the broader context of an athletic department that loses money and you have to be a bit nuts to say he doesn't have a very big contract.
