Loyola loses to Michigan 69-57. If my memory is proving accurate today, that is the score by which Ohio lost to Michigan in the '64 Elite 8.
And now the test gets bigger: I seem to recall that 69 was the opponents' score in that tournament's Ohio wins over Louisville and Kentucky.
BTW, I thought then that Ohio would have been a tougher match against first-time champ UCLA than either Michigan and Duke with their tall timber. I believe that Ohio's 6'5" center Paul Storey would have matched well against UCLA's 6'5" center Fred Slaughter.
Your memory, as Uncle Wes said, is correct. There is one other similarity in the Loyola loss to UMich and OHIO's loss to UMich in '64. Many, many blown point blank layups. I remember watching that '64 game on TV at the frat house. It was agonizing to see so many good moves to the basket that resulted in no score as the ball rolled around the rim and dropped off or went in the basket and popped back out, most of the time after the defensive had been thoroughly schooled.
