ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio Bobcat Club and the Ohio University Alumni Association will begin its annual Bobcat Caravan Series on Thursday, April 5th in Columbus.

The Columbus caravan stop will be the first of six stops across the Ohio area. Each Bobcat Caravan stop will be highlighted by appearances from Coach Frank Solich, Coach Saul Phillips, Athletics Director Jim Schaus and other special guests.

Caravan stops are FREE to attend and include food, non-alcoholic drinks, prize giveaways, photo opportunities, and plenty of fun. There is no better opportunity to meet our coaches face to face, spend time with Bobcat Nation, and get the inside information on OHIO Athletics.

The 2018 Bobcat Caravan schedule is listed below. We hope to see you this spring!

Frank was in rare form and extremely funny. Saul was very positive and confident that next season was going to be a big turnaround

I'll add that Saul confirmed that he is primarily looking at JUCA and transfer options for the two open schollie spots. His focus is on Guards, he believes our frontcourt for next year is pretty well set and solid if all stay healthy. He also used Loyola Chicago as an example of a team that 2 years prior had a poor season and then now made the Final Four. Trying to show how quickly things can turn around with the right talent mix and health.

Thanks for sharing that sargent.

I'll probably get blown up by the vocal minority, but there are some similarities there with Loyola if, and it's a big IF, a really good guard/wing can be added to the mix that fits it right away, and Carter/BVP can be what they think they can be for a whole year without re-aggravating their injuries (or having new ones).

He's right too about the potential for turn around. The margin between really good, and good teams in college basketball can be pretty small. I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together, and hope everyone heals up over the summer.

So, because Loyola turned things around quickly and because Nova has won 2 titles under Jay Wright, things aren't looking so bleak for Ohio's future afterall. Those two things are more telling than what we've actually seen on the court the past few years under this coaching staff.

I will add that although the meeting/banquet room at the Bogey was far from ideal (too noisy), the turnout was far better than at the Bluestone. My friends and I guestimated attendance at 125-150. Organizers seemed to like the general Dublin area for this event, and may look at other options for exact location.

Great to hear about the turnout! I wasn't able to make this one after making several years in a row.

I can confirm that thinking on keeping it in Dublin. Heard someone that took an hour to get there with traffic talk to Ryan Smith I think it was. Ryan said the Bogey was a bit too small for the turnout they ended up having. But that our Alums in Columbus are concentrated around Dublin and thus they want to keep things in that general area if possible.

With a turnout like that, it makes good sense to me. I'm always curious about how many people that are attending these events are ticket holders and/or Bobcat Club members. I still feel like the opportunity for getting a stronger ticket base in Columbus is tremendous.

Good video. Glad to hear the optimism coming from the HC. Lots of good stuff about the injuries, guys playing out of position and trying to blend new players with the core group of guys. Saul seemed really, really excited in that video about Springs' potential based on his height and length.

7'4" wingspan?! I don't know if that was mentioned over on his recruiting page.

Good stuff here...sounds like best schedule in years. Curious who the other high major school is that SP could not announce in Cleveland.

Certainly would be sweet. The dream scenario: OSU is a host team next year for NCAA tourney 1st/2nd round games at Nationwide Arena. This requires them to play a regular season game at Nationwide as sort of a "run-through" Why not against us?

With Dayton in the rear view, I look forward to thoughts from the Athens version next week.
