Unless Saul lucks into a guard that can light up the scoreboard, I would rather see him go after some physical bigs that can bang in the paint. The MAC is a physical league! Enough with this pass-happy, thinking man's game.

Saul is responsible for all of college basketball now? Transfers are up nation-wide. I'd love to hear how that is Saul's fault.

Also the first part of your statement is also false. It was widely talked about in the chat room late in the year that he might be leaving and that he wasn't happy. I think you just made up the part where people got hammered for saying that. Or you turned 1 person questioning someone's source as "a ton of folks got hammered".

I understand that you want us to fire Saul. It's fine to think that, but you're not really living in reality with these posts.

You really didn't read my post did you? Where did I say Saul is god and responsible for all of college basketball? Never once did I say that. In fact, I clearly indicated how Butler took his ball and went home because things didn't go his way on the court. He obviously didn't want to compete with Kirk in the coming years or feel like he can increase his minutes. I hate when guys just give up and quit. That's on #0...not Saul. And my question is basic...how many players have transferred in the Saul era? I was curious...not an indictment on Saul.

The answer is 6 transfers in 4 years. From my rough math Groce lost 7 in 4 years. Every circumstance is different, so I am not trying to compare the two in anyway. Just giving the numbers for context.

My hunch would've been JG would've had significantly more transfers than SP. I'd have guessed that because JG seemed to me to be more of risk taker when it came to recruiting. I heard of lockerroom problems that came about because of some of the guys he allowed in (AB for one) and he seemed way more a screamer. On the other hand, I get the impression SP goes after high IQ, under the radar guys, blue collar guys and while still competitive, a tad bit more easy going/player friendly guy.
Then again, leadership experience tells me that the "player friendly" perceived type leaders tend to have more personnel issues than the perceived hard butt jerk.

We've always had players who have transferred down to a lower conference without the playing time but the concerning thing is watching a guy like Simmons transfer to the P5. I can think of of one guy in football in the 90's who as a lineman transferred from Ohio to Michigan. Guy was a beast and ended up 1st team Big Ten. Yeah Godwin’s brother was a coach at Michigan, so he left to be with his brother. He played in the nfl until he was like 35 or 36.

All I know is I see this as a big opportunity to get a couple kids, whether it's via transfer or recruiting. I do know a couple kids in Ohio are on the board and are available. Whether Ohio goes after them or not remains to be seen, but I like having scholarships open this time of year because of the chaos that happens.

That said, I don't think McConnell comes here, especially since Wichita State had a scholly open recently and they've been rumored to be the lead dog for him. We'll see what happens but it's time to find a couple good kids and help fill out the 2018-2019 Ohio Bobcats roster.

I agree, this is a great opportunity.

Loyola, and Buffalo, and us in 2010 and 2012. Going guard heavy with teams that can run, pass, and shoot seems to be the way to success. Not sure the advantage in trying to play a big man physical game.

It's about damn time we recruit NEO. I posted a comment about Yaheel two years ago. I spoke to him and he loved when i talked about a chance to play at OU. If you give me Christian Guess or/and Hill and maybe Sincere Carry now we're talking. I'm not big on Saul as a coach/recruiter but these three kids are winners who'd bring a much needed blue collar attitude that's needed to win Mac games

I wish Mr. Butler the best down the road. Hopefully he finds a good school that suits him and he prospers. Seemed like a good kid.

But realistically, as much as I'd have loved him to stay, I don't feel crushed by his departure. I didn't see any one thing he did that well. He didn't seem like a great outside shooter, he didn't wow me with passing skills, he honestly didn't seem like a PG at all, to me. He was a really good athlete that I didn't see being a huge impact guy for this team. I think he could have been a solid rotation guy, but I didn't see him stealing PT from Kirk, Dartis, or Gollon.

But, he's only just begun. He expects offers from Duke, Kentucky and Villanova after he shines at FSSJC. The world will be beating a path to his door, and he'll show the world that Saul was just plain stupid for not starting him before TK last year.

So two of the three players who left the program this year end up at Walsh University and Florida Southwestern State Junior College. And I'm sure the other one is going to be JUCO or D2 or D3 or NAIA or church bound league as well. but they got offered by kent and wichita state last year. We count offers from their 9th grade summer year.

Yea, I'm sure that''s his intent.

Part of the challenge of transferring is finding locations that have openings. By going JUCO for a year, it opens more avenues and (I believe) allows him to transfer and play immediately in 2019. Could be wrong, perhaps someone can clarify. If so, going JUCO gives him more immediate playing time which he needs.

Sounds like he can play next year at JUCO and then transfer to play immediately if he takes a full load and has Ohio credits that he can transfer to the JUCO.

Q: Can I transfer to a two-year college for a semester/quarter then transfer to a four-year college and be immediately eligible?
No. As a "4-2-4" transfer, a student-athlete must make a certain amount of academic progress while at the two-year college to be eligible on transferring to the second four- year college. The student-athlete must earn 24 semeter/36 quarter hours of credit (with a 2.000 grade-point average) at the two-year college that may be transferred to a degree at the four-year college. One calendar year must pass since the student-athlete left the first four-year college before the student-athlete competes at the second four-year college. The student-athlete also must graduate from the two-year college. Please note that there are some exceptions to this transfer regulation that a student-athlete may qualify for and should consult their institution's compliance coordinator of call the NCAA membership services staff for more information.

Could be a wise move for the young man. I know a lot of folks were very pleased with your play and growth this year - not sure why some are are now reevaluating. Good Luck.

If he gets a consistent jump shot, he will be a problem. He has the size and athleticism and he can create for himself and others. I wanted the kid from Akron instead of him, but I grew to like him over time. He needs meaningful minutes somewhere.
