And this is just your friendly reminder that EMU was projected to win the MAC West.

Yikes.

It's Buffalo and the rest of the MAC ....

While I do tend to agree with the above - Beefs wouldn't have fared any better against Duke. That would be a 30 point blowout at Cameron too.

I mean come on. They were up 40 on a top 5 team.

The only team that Duke might struggle against at home this year is the Cavs. And not the team from Virginia.

Is there a better trash talking point than coming down the floor yelling "AND HE'S OUR THIRD BEST PLAYER!"

Confused me for a minute, because I thought you were saying EMU lost to VT. Ball State lost at the Charleston Classic to VT today by 9.

Sorry, OU Country. I was between classes and in a rush. Ball St. needed more from its bigs - Teague (7 pts) and Moses (2).

No one knew how Zion would do against anyone over 6'2

Ummm....yeah. Let's just say that's not a problem.

FWIW RJ Barrett might be better. It'll be interesting to see who goes 1 and who goes 2 in the NBA draft.

He was ranked as the #2 recruit in the ESPN top 100, #1 PF by 247 (#5 overall). I can't think there was a whole lot of speculation...

No worries! I wish I could have watched that one. Pesky day job getting in the way! If you want to watch a good one, VT and Northeastern on now. I'm watching the gamecast.

Also, should add - it's radio broadcast is playing now on Tune In Radio.

EMU has nothing to feel bad about, Kentucky was destroyed by Duke too.

Of course. That was the year after Trent left. Touted freshman class of Damion Washington, Diante Flenorl, Corey Reed and Andy Kanzig and the upper classmen of Jason Terry, Gus Johnson, Geno Ford and Curtis Simmons. If I recall Basra Fakhir and Jim Peterson were Soph's on that team but it was Fakhir's first season playing since he was a Prop 48 (?) non-academic qualifier his freshman year.

EMU was tough with Earl "the squirrel" Boykins and Derrick Dials.

I also believe that was a very down year for Duke, where Coach K had missed most of the season with back surgery, and barely even made the NCAA tournament. Jeff Capel and Chris Collins were the team "leaders". Talk about a down year for Duke.

I also think EMU was ranked in the low 20's in the top 25 for a bit that year.

Point being, it was a great win, but not wholly shocking/unsuspected for those teams in that season.

Oh what a difference 25 years makes.

Reflects both of my alma maters, but yes the FBI has potential to pull another 16-1 seed upset come the next year.....

After yesterday, EMU's fans might have a "Poor Ohio" thread.

He was ranked as the #2 recruit in the ESPN top 100, #1 PF by 247 (#5 overall). I can't think there was a whole lot of speculation...
And yet there were those out there who were doubting his abilities

"I'm not yet sold on Zion Williamson. He is a freak athlete and has great size, but, at least compared to other highly ranked recruits, I don't see much of an offensive game (to be fair, he hasn't really needed one to this point). Similarly ranked guys like Barrett, Romeo Langford, and Jayson Tatum have/had very mature offensive games that will serve them well at the next level(s). I don't see that with Zion Williamson. He clearly has loads of potential and also has plenty of time to develop said skills, I just don't think he can be the feature in an elite program's offense as it stands."

I think we can now see that he is indeed the feature in an elite program's offense but hard to deny that there were folks out there doubting. My statement about playing against 6'2 players posting on their Instagrams and high fiving when he dunked over them was a solid observation.
