I was wondering about that. But when I realized he was a student from Nigeria, the wondering ended. Those kids are academically ahead of their American peers of the same age usually.

Remember Festus Ezeli at Vandy? He also had an offer from Harvard.

I may be alone, but I wish we could have enticed Western Kentucky to have joined the MAC when they were looking for a home.

+1 I thought that at the time, and I still think it now.

WKU has produced great results, but the MAC does not need yet another public university that's struggling with severe budget cuts and declining enrollment. Western's best days are likely behind it.

Also, my recollection is that the MAC presidents chose not to pursue WKU for academic reasons.

Yeh, they’re better than some of them.

If they keep making waves athletically, they may turn that around. Of course, this is hindsight and they’re not alone.

I think WKU would have been a fine addition to the MAC athletically and geographically. Im not smart enough to know whether the MAC presidents were justified in not pursuing them. I dnot think it was the quality of their academics, but it had to do with the breadth of graduate school offerings and the level of research.

If Bassey had re-classified sooner (?) he could have gone somewhere with better academics than WKU with their 95% acceptance rate. However, most schools with both big name hoops and big name academics had spent their schollies.

The one and done era will soon be ending anyway, to the benefit of all but UK, Duke, UNC, and several others. It should level the playing field. Whoever replaces Saul should recruit 4-star prospects without hesitation.

Mark it down. Stansbury gets caught up in some kind of illegal recruiting violation. There's no way all these dudes want to go to Western Kentucky!

Bowling Green does have a mall! Albeit pretty underwhelming as alternative activity when a day of hiking around Mammoth Cave gets rained out.
