Hate that this will be my first post here... have lurked on this board for years- Love Ohio hoops- go back to the days when Ted Thompson was on WOUB with Tom Starr and Ron Jantz and not on here....lol
That said- how much real estate does Fear Leon take up in some of your heads? Here you have an interesting post- you talked with Saul, got some insight to share, and yet made it all about trying to get good ole Fear Leon.
Anyone with a brain knew Saul doesn't read BA- and if he did he'd never admit it. And that should put to bed the idiotic arguments from this past season that BA was hurting morale on the team and making Ohio look bad. This is a message board- with maybe 50 regular posters. Trying to assign it some heavier value is insane.
For the life of me I can't understand how grown women and men on this board can't handle fun or any sort of constructive criticism. Fear Leon is what he is... no different than his absolute opposite OU Country where everything in the Ohio Hoops world is fine and dandy and we just needed Carter healthy and we're playing Nova at the Final 4.
In any case thanks for the info from Saul- hopefully he's not just telling you want you want to hear and the team bounces back next year. And if BVP is solid/great- than that's awesome- but if BVP becomes EDoz part 2- you should expect comments here... heck you should make them yourself. And that can come with or without the hashtag- all good by me.
Echoes my experience as well, minus the Ted connection and the extreme view of Country. I think Ryan is well aware of the deficiencies. Spot on analysis though.
I am very aware of the deficiencies, you're correct. I have complaints about approaches this staff takes with strategy or lineups. I have concerns at times with recruiting, and I don't agree with every young man that has been given a scholarship. I also am well aware that as compared to the coaching staffs, and a select few people on here, I don't know a damn thing about talent evaluation. I just don't see any value in tearing down young men who are generally 18-22 years old. And generally, I'm not interested in tearing down my Alma Mater (and what I assume to be the Alma Mater of most people on here). When I was younger, I did, on occasion. In fact, I was hyper critical of Larry Hunter when I was a student. When he passed, I kind of regretted that, because I didn't know him as a man like many here did. So yeah, in case you're looking for perspective on me as it relates to Ohio hoops, and the angle I take sometimes here, there ya go.
Back to the crux of OCF's post though....
Thanks a bunch for sharing. One of the great things I see about college sports, and college hoops, is that at the beginning of every year there's always that hope for a new, good year, and a fresh start. I'm really excited to see BVP and Carter healthy and on the floor together. And I'm really hoping that Jordan gets to have a healthy and fantastic senior year.
