I've been alternating between hiding my head in my hands and yelling at the computer screen over the horde of turnovers the team has been committing, far too many of the blatantly ridiculous kind.

Then I took a minute to think about it. And I've come to the conclusion we need to give these guys some time to mature and straighten this out. A key factor to remember: With Jordan Dartis and James Gollon yet to play, Doug Taylor and Gavin Block, who doesn't start, are the only guys getting court time who are seasoned vets. That means every other player either is in his first or second season of actually playing on the court.

This is a very young and inexperienced team. I don't believe they'd be turning over the ball at this alarming rate if Dartis and Gollon were playing. And I don't expect it to continue. They'll get better at it, I believe. If they do, they'll be very competitive in conference play and could challenge for a tournament bye if Dartis and Gollon return.

While I agree with your remarks until that time, if I was an opposing coach, I would play nothing but zone and put as much pressure as possible upon our guards. I hope it changes but to this point they have not shown the ability to be a consistent 3 point threat and do not handle pressure very well. Hopefully they will develop quickly but their age is showing right now.

If a team has any semblance of a press, it's curtains. I'd press and zone for 40 min.

This x 1 million. Any coach (and every team who scouts us even a little in the MAC) will do exactly this.

Force other guys to pass/dribble the ball up the court than Kirk by pressing - then in the half court take away Carter/Taylor on the block and the driving lanes for Kirk by going zone and force us to figure out how to actually shoot the ball.

We could average more turnovers than FG's in the above scenario.

Only chance we might have is on the offensive glass. Teams tend to not defensive rebound as well out of a zone and we hit the glass well. So that's something.

I disagree. In previous home games we've handled presses pretty well. We seem to be a different -- and vastly inferior team -- on the road, at this stage in the season.
