Weird scheduling around Thanksgiving and Xmas/New Years is just one of those things about pre-conference hoops this time of the year. Kent has a game at 4pm the day after Thanksgiving at Vandy. Hope that 14,000 seat arena doesn't fill up beyond what the fire marshall will allow.

I hope some home cooking does this team some good.

Not to be a complete pessimist, I haven't been so down on an Ohio team I thought had a shot to be decent in a long time. This team isn't very athletic, aren't very good shooters and aren't very fundamentally sound...I can't seem to get in a positive place about this season. We have had some very good teams at Ohio that have underachieved (IMHO), but I think this team will have to way over-achieve with effort and defense to be competitive.

I hope I'm wrong, but think we are in for a very long season.

This AP team has already lost to a Campbell team, that wasn’tt very good and we’ve already beaten this season. On paper, this a much needed homecoming win.

Let me know how the attendance in the O-Zone and General Public goes. Let me know if it gets north of 5K.....

I have to figure, since the students will be away from campus at home for the Turkey Day holiday that the O Zone attendance will be 0 no matter what time that day the game’s held.

I can recall multiple times over the past 20 years or so where I've gotten away from the madness in Central Ohio on UM-O$U Saturday for a trip to beautiful Athens and a basketball game in the Convo. Usually a small crowd but a nice diversion from the absurdity that overtakes Central Ohio this weekend.

Just need to be sure to get away from Court St. in time to be back home and in front of the television for the ND-USC game at 8 p.m.

This isn't the first time this has been done on the same gameday, or even during "the game". We hosted Belmont in 2014, though that was at 7pm. This also occurred in 2013 vs Evansville at 2pm, though the football game was played in Michigan that year. In 2012, we played Richmond at 2pm. From 2012-2014, the OSU/UM game kicked at noon.

I can't say I'm at all surprised, but you know whose staff never seems to have scheduled a home basketball on the same day/time as OSU vs Michigan?

Worthy of note, college hoops season didn't start until after Thanksgiving, (and thus OSU/UM) up through 2005. In 2006, it was the first year according to our schedules that basketball started the second week of November. There were no hoops home games in Athens in 2006 on Thanksgiving weekend. In 2007 according to the schedule, when OSU/UM was played at noon, we played Cornell at 7pm at home.

For me, this circles back around to the question: WHY are we seemingly married to 2pm start times? It seems unwise to not pay attention to potential conflicts like this, or arrange start times such that you could potentially maximize your ticket sales potential. I know, I know, someone will point out consistency of schedule, or how we can't schedule around everything. While that's true to a degree, there's no good reason Saturday's game couldn't be a 4pm or 5pm tip time. None. Zero. Zilch. For me, this feels a lot like scheduling Dad's weekend on an exhibition game weekend: A Missed Opportunity.

I agree - I'll be there as a diversion, the problem is, there are several people who will choose OSU/UM over hoops. Those same people possibly would do BOTH if they weren't forced to choose. For example, I would very easily be able to get three others to join me Saturday if the day included going to a bar to watch football, then walking down the hill for basketball. As it stands, I'm probably going to this one by myself. Opportunity missed in my book.

I assume ticket sales numbers will be up for the game on Saturday (“the game” is different from “The Game”) because I received 4 tickets in the mail inviting back as a former season ticket holder. We won’t be available though because we like to go Christmas shopping during “The Ga*e” in Columbus as the stores are empty.

Okay- I embellished a bit. We won’t be available because we will be visiting our Ohio Alum daughter and Ohio alum son-in-law in NC where all bar TVs will be featuring the backyard rivalries of NCState and UNC or Duke and WF.

Seriously, Christmas shopping on the day of The Ga*e is great!

The 4 tickets you received by mail was a nice gesture. I was a football season ticket holder for a few years but didn't renew the past 2 seasons. Never received so much as a boiler-plate e-mail inquiring as to why I wasn't renewing.

In 34 years in the yearbook industry, I won some accounts and lost some and got some back that had been lost. The toughest ones to get back were the ones that I avoided visiting for a year or more after the contract was lost. Same goes here, out of sight out of mind. As hard as it is to deal with a sales loss, the sales rep needs to go back as early and as often as possible.

One of my favorites is when mcbin posted the scoreboard image straight after the roadtrip to Richmond, Kentucky that read "Let's! Go! Peay!".

It was a nice gesture and appreciated for that reason. If not traveling, probably would have used the tickets. My reasons for not keeping up donations and season tickets are not one-dimensional but “game day experience” was a factor but would have come to this game knowing it would be simply a trip to Athens and a basketball game- not terrible options.

Oyyy....I flip flopped the two in my head at that time. Damn. EKU is in Richmond, yes.

Regardless, the "Lets go Peay!" is still funny.
