From an SEC scout......

KG has the worst hands of any college hoops player I’ve ever seen. Glad to see he figured out how to use them in some capacity.

Yep...I'm all for having some transfers and JUCOs on our squad, but it can be risky if a player has a questionable background. We all want to win but we have to be careful about the character of people we bring in.

C'mon Jeff. I doubt any BA poster is looking for this type of player on Ohio's roster.

Recruits with higher ratings than what we've seen lately and student-athletes with integrity are not mutually exclusive. We've had rosters full of them over the 40 years you've been following Bobcat basketball.

We have had our share, Michael Jordan knocked out Steve Kerr. This punk should lose his scholarship and we should not take the opportunity to get a moral victory out of this. Let’s just beat Akron twice

Na, it’s only January. Nothing matters until March.

Agreed....I am puzzled by this:

“Obviously, at this point in time, I have to let the process take its course,” UA coach John Groce said when asked about Gueye’s status with the team.

If he and/or someone on his staff witnessed this, I'd cut ties pretty quick vs. waiting for the judicial process to play out.

Had it happened in March, Groce would have driven him to the hospital, called his family and stayed with him bedside. January Groce just said take yourself, bro...none of this stuff even matters. Wake me up when March comes.

Several thngs are puzzling - he was knocked unconscious and he drove himself to a hospital almost an hour north when there are two hospitals within 5 minutes of Rhodes Arena.

Remember, folks, this involves one guy who averages 5.6 minutes and 1.9 pts per game and another one who's sitting out the season on a transfer. Groce was too busy taking care of his regulars.

My guess would be that they didn't initially think he was hurt that bad and it wasn't until he got back to his dorm that he decided to go to the hospital.

On a side note, I used to work at the old Pizza Express on Stimson back in the day. One night I was making the pizza dough and cutting it into balls when I cut my thumb, literally, to the bone. My boss poured sugar in the gash, gave me a hand towel and told me to get myself to O'Bleness. I hopped in my car, holding my left arm out of the window, and drove myself. Probably doesn't go down like that today.

I believe he chose to skip at Akron hospital and go to the hospital closest to his home. In any case, this is a bad look for Groce and his "program." Most overrated coach ever, IMO.

Fun fact: NIU has more road MAC wins this season than Akron has since LAST season.

But they won that 1st round 8 vs 9 game in the MAC tournament that FearLeon made sure to point out and pump Groce up over before hiding when they lost in the Quarterfinals.

Maybe Groce was overrated on his body of work, but I don't remember attending any other Ohio Bobcat Sweet 16 game in my lifetime. I had a hell of a lot more fun that season than the decades of disappointing losses in Cleveland following 20-win seasons.

Which exactly explains why he is overrated. Our emotions of those memories trump every chance at logic, reason and long range complete analysis.

Because actually coming within a hair of making the Elite 8 is so rare. The guy only won 3 NCAA Tournament games within 4 years. I wish all of our coaches were so overrated.
