The best intro ever is back. Feel free to disagree, but this is my childhood summed up in one song:

I'm confused, what does title of thread have to do with NBA on NBC?

The NBA on NBC has everything to do with (OT: College Basketball on Fox) don't you know. He is right even the topic is off topic.

My personal favorite was this followed by the play-by-play of Enberg and the banter of McGuire and Packer.

Is this thread some sort of avant-garde art installation or absurdist joke that's gone over my head or what?

Long story short, the old theme music to the NBA on NBC (Roundball Rock) is the new theme song for College Basketball on Fox.

Thanks for the explanation. Now that makes a bit more sense

OK couldn't resist to thrown in this 1970s CBS Sports opening NBA video from my grade school days. A dash of School House rock and Scooby Doo type opening lyrics mixed with a pinch of Brewer and Shipley and Cowsills, for those of you who get the musical reference.

Using Roundball Rock for college basketball is a mistake. It connotates NBA basketball. Using it in another context is like when CBS uses its intro music for CBS College Sports broadcasts. It doesn't work. It lessens the effect of when it plays for the bigger broadcasts.

I'm sorry, but I'm passionate about Roundball Rock and protecting it. Also, Jim Fagan is gone and a giant part of that intro getting the tingles it did was his voice with Roundball Rock still in the background.

And those NBC graphics...It was a sports/music/font nerd's dream...

OK, here's an OT question in this OT thread. Does anyone else really like it when CBS Sports does a MAC game 'cause you get to hear that great NCAA Madness Music way before March Madness? Always gets me pumped up, and makes the most dreary game seem emotionally like a gigantic hoops clash. Or is it just me?

I don't mind it if it's a big ballgame like I remember as a kid at Assembly Hall when Purdue or Illinois would go there. Or to Freedom Hall for a UK-UL matchup. But for lessor games, they may need to zip it.
