The score is 30-30 at the half. Lunden looks decent.

ripping off those kids, awful. He was like a cult hero. Spire Academy had some some athletes. The game was close until the last five minutes of the 4th quarter, Spire put on a dunk contest in the last five minutes.

It was like the Garfield game it was sold out and the fans cheered whenever Lamelo did anything and they paid money to take pictures with lavar ball, meanwhile Lamelo got shut down and faked an injury and the other brother liangelo was with lavar. He may have ruined two of his sons basketball careers.

How is he "ripping off" kids legally selling sports apparel for 50% off? And looks to me Melo played below his normal level but still had a dunk and 3 pointer with 2 mins left in the 4th. The level of animosity towards the Ball family is curious to say the least.

So actual question on here for many. Over the years we on this board have an overall general distaste for the Mega Football programs and have been critical of the NCAA and the exploration of athletes. Yet on this thread there seems to be an opinion by some that this Spire Academy is a good thing, a cool thing even. This is nothing more than travel ball on steroids in my opinion. Why the enthusiasm about such an outfit (can't really even call it a school).

Wow that last sentence is FUNNY! You can't be serious?!?! Ask yourself why there is animosity towards Lavar? I think you should be able to find the answer.

He stopped being comical to me when he went all "Stay in yo lane" on a female TV co-host.

Seconded. I honestly feel a little bit bad for the kids. Their father, to me, is almost like Stephen A. Smith or Skip Bayless. He just happens to sell over priced apparel.

How did Lunden do in the matchup? Were they guarding each other? I know Lunden is a PG, but is Lamelo?

I agree on the over priced apparel piece. I feel bad for liangelo and Lamelo, they may not play in the nba because of Lavar’s antics. He pulled liangelo out of UCLA and now he is traveling with Lavar and I don’t believe that Lamello can go to college and he definitely needs college. As a black man, I get the starting your own business to market your for your three sons, but it is hard to take you seriously when you charge poor and middle class kids $500 for a pair of sneakers and calling people small ballers when you return an item is an insult. When I say as a black man, lavar originally asked Nike for like $500 billion for exclusive marketing rights to his sons and they declined, so he did his own thing under the premise that their should be a black company that would compete with Nike and Adidas, but his business is more of a hustle. He needs to clean it up, he should not be a cult hero in my opinion. https://www.google.com/amp/s/bustedcoverage.com/2018/01/0... /

Positives
Lavar has a big personality and he has molded his three sons into great basketball. He wants to make sure that his children are represented right and he wants to make sure they are valued right from a marketing standpoint. He believes that the sky is the limit for his family.
Negatives
He was marginal when he played so he is living his life through his kids. He has a huge ego and is somewhat delusional, thinking that he could beat MJ in a one on one game. His delusions of grandeur have caused him to pull his kids out of school, he has created a brand that sells untested shoes at Gucci prices. He started a basketball league that was largely unsuccessful and liangelo is whithering away. He is like Walter from a “raisin in the sun”, but he has a cult following that believes that if he succeeds than they are successful as well. The following does no due diligence.

This is America. They have a right to try anything they please. If they fail, sing no sad songs for them. Good luck.
