Ohio is 25 for 117, a 3P% of .214 as a team. BVP has made 10 of the 25.

Ohio is ranked 353rd in NCAA D1. There are 353 D1 teams. Dead last. The next closest at #352 is Princeton at .232. The gap of 18 points is the largest gap between teams in the entire rankings.

To make you feel better though...I went ahead and looked at the D2 stats, and out of 304 teams, Ohio would be ranked #302. Virginia Union, Pitt-Johnstown, and LIU Post have been worse.

In D3, Ohio would be ranked #414 out of 416. Becker, Staten Island, and Keystone have been worse. To be fair to these teams though, they are not as far along in their season and have played only 1-3 games.

All together, Ohio is ranked 1,068th out of 1,073 teams.

While this may seem like a negative/slam post, I actually choose to view this as an encouraging thing. We knew this would be a problem without Dartis/Gollon, but there is no way they are this bad. Carter 0 for 10.
Block from .338 1st 3 years to .238. Kirk from .400 to .143. No where to go but up from here. And in spite of this nastiness, we survived the games we were supposed to win and sit at 3-2. Hopefully Dartis and/or Gollon return soon to help the problem...but even without that I choose to believe the law of averages will help us a little here too.

My expectations for this season coming in were about as low as I can ever remember for Ohio basketball. So far I have not been disappointed and a stat line like this helps reinforce it.

So far I see:

Great ball movement - but is all around/across the perimeter. Therefore the open looks for bad 3 shooters.

Not good body movement, posting up, slashing, penetrating, inside dishing. The "motion" of OUr "O" often looks like a Chinese Fire Drill - Lotta movement but for no apparent positioning advantage/opportunity creation.

If we could just turn a few missed 3's into a more made 2's (inside the 3 line, at the hoop, or on the line) - The net total scoring would increase (though that also assumes improvement at the FT line.....)

Saw and said "Hi" to Tommy 3Man at the game on Saturday.

Hopefully he was there to give a quick clinic on how to do that - Shoot da 3....

Getting open looks only matter if you can shoot the ball in the first place. I think we'll be all right if Dartis and Gollon are ready and able for conference play. But with this being Dartis' last season, hope Coach Phillips brings in at least two shooters for next season. This is a must, as I see it.
