We are still passing too much on each possession.

We finally have a guard out there making outside shots and we all are having a good time, then BOOM done for the year. We just are not meant to have a deep threat this season. Sigh.

In a pregame interview, Saul said the opposite. He’s said they been shooting too soon in most possessions and, therefore, often not getting as good a look as possible.

On the post game show Saul said James tore his achilles and was done for the year.
Heard that too, as I was driving home from the game. Very sad, indeed. Without his spark and his three-point shooting tonight, we likely don't end up on the winning side of the ledger. The injuries our team has had during the Saul Era have just been unreal.
The injuries have been unreal yes but the depth in his recruiting has been horrible to combat that. It is not unusual for many teams to lose players but still succeed. We can't just crawl into a hole and accept mediocrity from a coach because he has had to deal with injuries. Someone said "next man up" earlier but it seems that the Saul system does not have a "next man up." Instead he has James, Springs and Murrell sitting with Murrell barely getting any PT. In the past years he would go with 6 man lineups because his players all transferred away. And don't forget that his star PG decided it would be better riding the pine at Michigan than playing for him for one more year.

James G is a huge lose to this group. He has been a gutsy fighter his entire career, and has overcome multiple injuries since day 1 that keep others wandering around in sweat pants. He has fought his way back time and time again.
I feel terrible for this Bobcat Baller who gave us all he had every day. A good player and a great kid.

Bobcat1998...get real. If you really think Simmons left for Michigan to sit the bench up there then you know less basketball than you continually show here. He did not make a decision to go sit the Michigan bench over playing another year for Saul. Why don't you get together with the other guy on this forum who has suggested that now we are "passing the ball too much" You two could have some great X and O sessions. Gag me!

I think sometimes we pass without purpose. There isn't really a plan to find an open man; just to get rid of the ball. And too often guys are passing up open shots late in the clock and dishing it to somebody who's not open. It happened a couple times last night. There isn't thought behind the passing.

That said, last night was overall maybe the best teamwork we've seen with this team all year. At Toledo we had too many smaller guys trying to shoot over bigs and getting stuffed instead. That didn't happen so much last night. Only two blocked shots vs seven against Toledo. Last night there was more driving the lane then passing to an open man.

The run they had in the 1st half was some of the best offensive basketball the team has played all season. The ball was moving from side to side, guys were cutting and Jimmy G was hot.

And then of course on a non contact move to catch a pass, Jimmy goes down with a torn Achilles. Unreal.

The staff is cursed. SaulBaul isn't meant to run in Athens.
