With the signing of two undersized post players out of the portal, I'm beginning to believe we may go through Jeff Boals' entire tenure as Bobcats' coach without ever having a center 6-9 or taller with rim-protecting ability on our team. It doesn't seem to be on his radar. It's certainly on mine. But I'm not the coach...

I’ve been as critical as anyone of Boals’ recruiting, but we did offer Emeka Opurum, the 7 foot JUCO prospect. He fits that mold.

Kid sat on the offer (among others) and we pivoted. There were number of other guys we were connected to who seemed to profile more as rim protectors as well this portal season. The cards just fell this way and I think Boals and staff exceeded expectations. I figured our best case was a D1 and lower level add. Instead, we landed two proven D1 players with size.

Breath could be a rim protector. Would be good to talk to a SoCon fan to get their opinion.
