Wow. Javan Simmons of Toledo has transfered to OHIO. Javan will have 2 years remaining. He was the MAC Freshman of the year and All-MAC honorable mention his sophomore year.

While some may have been hoping for a bigger big than 6'7" I think this is great. To get a guy with 66 games as a starter in the MAC, not many better realistic gets than that. My impression was always that Simmons plays bigger than he is, much like Hadaway. This is a huge hurdle cleared for our roster the next 2 years. Still leaves open the option to land a true Center as well.

I still wonder what this says about Tod K and his culture at Toledo now. Losing Simmons to Oregon State or Charleston is one thing, but to lose him to a conference foe Tod K has gotten the best of his whole career is another thing.

Great point.

You win four MAC regular season titles in a row with two NBA players, he should have moved on. He lost his window and now he's stuck.

Agree, although I would add that Simmons does his with bulk and strength more so than Hadaway. They are both relentless while on the floor, Simmons outfighting and outmuscling you around the rim while Hadaway is just outhustling you. Not to mention that they are both lefties.

Certainly a surprise and a needed pickup. Just assume he's a 1-year rental who'll test the free agent waters again in order to go up/get a bigger payday.

Interesting that the author seems to expect Simmons to play the 4 here. May just be speculation but would lend credence to a projected Simmons-Breath starting frontcourt combo.

Boals has shown he will give guys freedom. I suspect Javan will shoot a ton of shots this offseason and be ready for the 4. Love that he mentioned Pavs. This team could be special even with AJB leaving. Elliott ready for next step..some frosh looking the part and another scholly to add a DUDE! COME ON CATS!!

Interesting read. As stated before, I've been frustrated with bigs too focused on outside shooting so I can't say I love reading this, but I'm open to see how it plays out.
