Thought that name looked familiar. We offered out of high school. I feel like we've had someone come from that Christian Brothers school in TN where he's from.
Ohio State former RB Dallan Hayden is from that school.

He transferred to Colorado.

We’ve reached out to Alcorn State’s Djahi Binet. Solid numbers at 10ppg and 8rpg, but a little on the smaller side of big at 6’7 215 lbs.

Enough about these smaller players.

WE NEED A GIG BODY TO PLAY DOWN, CLOG THE MIDDLE AND REBOUND.

Satisfy this need and we will quickly add 5-6 more games in the win column

After watching the highlights, he definitely plays “big”.

He's athletic and plays fearless on both ends of the court.

Would fill a big need vs the Akron type forwards of the world.

We don't need a big guy in terms of 6-9 or taller. We need Jon Smith type guys--jumping jacks who sell out on every posession.

On a long list that includes P5’s that have reached out to North Florida’s Josh Harris. 6’8 and averaged 13ppg and 7rpg as a freshman.

A few new bigs we started following:

Garry Clark of Texas A&M-CC. 6'8, averaged 15ppg and 8rpg.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/...

Charles McClennahan of Mercyhurst. 6'8, only played first 4 games this season. 4ppg and 4rpg. Averaged 11ppg and 7rpg at Butler CC a year ago. (same as Opurum)
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats...

Daniel Akitoby of Morgan State. 6'9. 9ppg, 7rpg, 1.2bpg. 1st Team All MEAC Defense. He seems likes a bigger Binat, the Alcorn State kid we reached out to.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/...

Anton Webb of Taylor (NAIA). 6'8 Some Ties here -- started career at Ashland and is from Dayton. Averaged 17ppg, 11rpg, 1bpg, and 2spg. All-Conference and All-Conference Defense.

Boals and staff absolutely cannot afford to whiff in the portal this year.

Seems like we are following all the right types of players. Whether that leads to a commitment remains to be seen.

Another new name — Edwin Daniel of Connors State JUCO. 6’9, averaged 13ppg, 13rpg, and 4bpg. Looks like his school’s season just ended in postseason tourney.

We’ve reached out to UNCW’s Sean Moore. If I recall correctly, we were interested last cycle when he was in the portal out of FDU. Put up 9ppg and 7rpg this past season.

I'm salivating.

Didn't play much at Hutch as a freshman, but still averaged 3 points, 3 rebounds, 1.2 blocks per game in 8 minutes of PT.

At what point is this just AAU ball with better funding? Cleveland State coach leaves for North Texas and three players immediately hit the portal and follow him.

Moore would be an upgrade of James and Nicol in one player. A medium sized fourth year wing player with plenty of impactful experience. Weakness seems to be the three ball. Rebounding, steals, and 2PT field goal % strong.

I'm not sure he'd be a slam dunk starter here and he might be looking for that.

Players are committing to the coach and not the school/program.

Yea, I like what Daniel would bring a lot. I'd group him with Oporum and Akitoby -- love that he was All-MEAC Defense and a rebounding machine (Per 40: 12rpb Per 100: 17rpg) as my own top personal preferences.

Guys seem to be committing out of the portal much quicker than previous cycles. Hopefully we're close to something and/or at least getting visits lined up.

I think Moore could start here. That would likely mean Elliot to the bench, which I think is fine imo. E5 is a PG, not a two or a wing.

If you have the opportunity to have a starting 5 of Portal Big, Hadaway, Moore, AJB, Pavs, you do it without thinking twice. It's bigger and allows Elliot to grow into his natural position more with the 2nd team + bench spark. Again, just my opinion.

Moore is not an overpowering presence in the paint. He's more of a finesse forward. Like a better version of Cornish.

It's getting to the point where you can easily predict who will be in the portal a year from now. AJ Storr, after demanding a six figure deal last year, is in the portal again. Wisconsin > Kansas > ?

Keyshawn Hall supposedly from Cleveland at one point and we had an interest when he was leaving UNLV has now gone UNLV > George Mason > UCF > Auburn.

That Jaylen Carey kid we missed out on would have been a flight risk. JMU > Vanderbilt > Tennessee.

Out of 33 games at Vandy, he started one game. At JMU he started zero out of 36.

Tennessee probably overpaid for him.
